    Starting Paramedic.... Need to knows!?!?

Good luck man, its going to be a tough road. I kinda agree with the whole get some experience before jumping into the fire. The reason I say this is because every call prepares you for the next. Without having that experience to fall back on you are selling yourself short, having that field...

    Nraemt

The scope of practice update that all EMS workers in Ga had to do this year stated that the NRAEMT test was going to be a linear test until enough data has been collected to switch it to the prediction type test that the Paramedic and EMT-I test is. Where you start at baseline and you get a...

    Im bad with blood pressures

Most direct advice I can offer is... Invest in a good stethoscope. I personally like the Littmann Master Cardiology.. To me it was well worth the investment. I have some hearing deficient in my right ear and had a hard time on some pt's until I shelled out the money for one of those. Now I...

What to do after max dose of Amiodarone?

Yes you are correct but I think my response was alil vague, I consider Mag,Calcium chloride etc to fall into when trying to rule out causes. My instructor swears by Mag Sulfate.. He claims to have got more people back after giving mag than anything.. Torsades is a fun one I remember the 1st time...

What to do after max dose of Amiodarone?

My protocol wont allow me to stop or call it. So I would just keep doing Epi q 3-5, CPR and defib (if shockable rhythm) while working through my H's & T's until I reached the ER.

Grim scene - bystander/first responder GSW scenario

Well sir.. Lets see if you remember your steps to trauma assessment.... BSI SCENE SAFE MOI/NOI Number of Pt additional help etc.... Now with that said, even if I was on duty I am not going on scene until the scene is secured. Why in the hell would I when off duty without any backup,equipment...

What study techniques did you use when studying for the NREMT?

Sadly you either know it or you don't. There is way to much information to attempt to study. Taking a refresher would not be a bad idea but for the most part its all about test taking skill. My teacher had a saying that I lived by when testing RTFQ² Read the fkin question twice... Trust...

    Pneumothroax Transport Destination

Depends on your state. In Georgia the pt could meet trauma triage criteria. How fast was he traveling on the motorcycle? Does the scene indicate a significant mechanism of injury? For trauma triage criteria for mechanism in Georgia regarding motorcycle accidents is greater than 20 MPH. Now does...

Did you work while in paramedic training?

Yes currently working 24 on 48 off while finishing up medic school. Depending on how fast you pick up on things.. It can suck but its the nature of the beast. Its funny when you think about it, you are on the truck more than you are at home while attending school.

Grim scene - bystander/first responder GSW scenario

You ask what us as professionals would do in a given situation. Then turn what we say into some form of racism. We as professionals look at situations differently than the average lay person. If you were willing to put yourself in danger to hold some random Joe or Jan's hand while they bleed out...

Grim scene - bystander/first responder GSW scenario

Pt 1. Dead Pt 2. Needs treatment beyond what you would have on you off duty. Best intervention you could do at this point would be turn and walk away. Call 911 (or appropriate number for your country) and give as much information as possible. Every detail you can remember from what you saw...
