Where is the best EMS system?

Those are the kind of things I was thinking about. I'm a Paramedic, and I've worked all over the Bay Area (SF and San Jose mostly). You're hitting on the types of things I was talking about, but I also kept it pretty vague to see what other people like about their systems. Which SCEMS are you...

Where is the best EMS system?

Hello EMT Lifers! I'm becoming more and more disappointed with the state of EMS here in California. I don't live under a rock, I know that California is the bottom of the barrel, so I don't mind moving. So here is my question; where is the best EMS system in the USA? Seattle King Medic 1...

    RSI Checklist (And Other Checklists)

I think about this all the time, so I would love to collaberate on updating / making some. Our ETT protocol contains somewhat of a checklist, but as my agency refuses to every print a protocol book, you have to resort to using it on your phone if you want to have it. Granted, I could print it...

    MFI/RSI

I didn't catch the "one RSI per code" post, but most of my codes get an advanced airway, and it's the tube placement that's the hard part (as opposed to pushing the drugs). A lack of technical proficiency, either real or perceived, is what (IMO) prevents any decent advances in airway...

    MFI/RSI

I know someone who is gobsmacked that this is a thing offered at all, he wanted to have a look at the protocol. (Definitely not to copy!)

Can you name the region at least? Maybe I can call them and find a way to have a look

Yeah 5mg isn't great at all! What's the name of the service? Trying to see the whole thing laid out if possible.

Can you direct me to their versed facilitated intubation protocol?

    MFI/RSI

If anyone can help me, I'm trying to find an example of a DAI / DFI / fake-RSI protocol, but I'm having a tough time!

    MFI/RSI

Looking at the Ca Paramedic scope and optional scope, it shows that some agencies are using "Drug Facilitated intubation", which as far as I know is RSI without paralytics. Can anyone from the EMT life brain trust give me s good answer as to why? DFI is more dangerous, with higher failure and...

Thanks! It's a shame about the San Diego trial. From what I can see, it wasn't very well constructed.

Thanks for the quick answer. I'm having a hard time on my phone, but can you steer me towards an online Cali Scope?

Does anyone know if RSI is allowed anywhere in California?

New Orleans EMS A&E show! *Video*

https://vine.co/v/OwV2rlYPHx9 Officer Daniels seems to disagree with you... I like the show. It shows the more personal side of what we do, and it's good exposure for us. My family and especially my girlfriend like to watch it too. It might not be identical to my day to day work, but it's...

    Penthrox

I'm not necessarily pushing for penthrox, but I think we should have entonox. Non opiate pain relief should be a priority, considering that the US has more opiate addicts than the rest of the world combined.

    Penthrox

There are a few studies that disagree about the side effects. http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/j.1742-6723.2009.01153.x/abstract;jsessionid=9543629926D846CA6C5E76AD9B42E1FD.f03t01 http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/j.1742-6723.2006.00874.x/abstract Unfortunately, they're...

    Penthrox

When I've asked I've had a few responses. One: it is hard to account for how much is used, both for billing and for accountability (because obviously we're all going to use it.) Second: storage of mixed gases, regulators, and other things that didn't make sense or weren't accurately explained...

    AED Pads for Conscious Patients?

Outside of pacing, I've put pads on a chest pain PT once in the absence of STEMI. In that case the PT was borderline bradycardic (rate ~ 65), looked terrible, though no MI on the monitor, and I was pleasantly surprised that he didn't code. I thought I would pacing before pretty soon, but the PT...

A quick Google search finds single doses + green whistle retail at $45 Australian, so $36 US. And that's for a single unit. Definitely not cost prohibitive.
