What should I study for Florida Paramedic exam?

I haven't taken any state exams, but I'm sure your teacher(s) might have some good advise. That is who I spoke with extensively before my NR test. Don't get too stressed out, it isn't rocket science. Just review everything thing you have been taught and the order of the NREMT skills sheet.

    Dont know what to do

 How old are you? Truthfully I would spend more attention in English class if you want to be successful at anything in the future. Best of luck!

    Was intubation indicated or appropriate?

Interesting scenario. Before he complained of difficulty breathing did you begin some sort of pain management? I would have gone to the trauma hospital and given a report and let them make the call if they want to call in a helicopter. I'm not sure why you would call for additional...

What other Certs should a Emt-b get?

You didn't ask for college classes, but those would be wise to take to better yourself, pad your resume, and up your chances of succeeding in paramedic school. At the very least you could get away with doing them cheaply at a community college or online. If your paramedic class is with a college...

    Too old for EMS?

Haha well that's good to hear. My EMT class looked like everyone stumbled off the streets from the night before. Most were covered in tattoos. One even had bright blue hair.

    Too old for EMS?

The other students were clean cut? :glare: It may actually work in your favor. Your age may give the patients the impression that you are more experienced and may make them a little more comfortable. As long as your body can take it (and I work with people in their 60's that can handle it) I...

Wtf was happening with this pt?

I'm with the crowd and believe the vagas is to blame, but did you happen to do an orthostatic BP while waiting for the ICP? Also, did anyone get the impression it could have been an aneurysm? Perhaps one that is tamponaded by his position? Or is that a little bit of a stretch? :P

19F Chest pain - confused me

My guess is a poor decision of a sedative for anxiety in an over blown treatment choice for this scenario. Tis what the OP said the treatment was though if that is the question.

19F Chest pain - confused me

What would the benefit of intranasal fentanyl be over IV in this situation?

    Special Events

hahaha same here. A lot of band-aids for blisters. It can be intimidating at some events for some reason when you start though. Worked a horse show alone once and was a little nervous when the horses would buck or act up.

19F Chest pain - confused me

Looks like SVT due to stress, sleep deprivation, and caffeine (on an empty stomach too?) . I'd try to reassure her, try vagals, and place a line in en route. No need to push drugs unless she worsens. Because it sounds like perhaps it was (or could have been) something else, I'd ask about...

Nobody will hire me. I'm considering a career change.

 From what I can gather, in CA your first few years would be limited to a private service, and don't get me started about the earning money thing :P

    Im ready to work!

lol clever. Yea, the fees sure will kill you here ^_^ I had to pay the state $200 to print a card for me. I had proof of a recent background check that had been run and all of my cards and papers in order. It might have been the easiest 15 minutes for them to grant me reciprocity and make...

    Rural/Metro Georgia

Some states have laws mandating that ambulances can not operate after they hit a certain mileage. Other states haven't seen the necessity to pass a law limiting mileage because it would force out very, very small EMS services who can not afford a new ambulance. The R/M in this state takes...

That's definitely other places too. And windshield wipers that are more useful when turned off. I could go on and on  Do you all use actual radios or phones with push to talk walkie talkies?

Have you taken it again yet? More favorable results this time?

    Rural/Metro Georgia

I can attest to the sucky-ness. Not sure about GA, but I've seen some of the trucks literally have over half a million miles on them. The morale isn't swell either.

    Stay-play / Load-go/ Upgrade?

We don't have intermediates in our state, but couldn't he have started an IV and ran a strip? I think this call should have been well within his knowledge.
