Post the # your test stopped at, and if you Passed/Failed

In NYS, there are 110 questions with a passing grade of 70. I take my state test in September, 2018. I'll come back to let ya'll know *I passed"... (fingers crossed...)

    Michigan License number change

Hi Achilles, Mine has stayed the same. I even let it expire (a few years ago), but am able to still use it in my current class. The state (of NY) has told me once I'm issued a number it is "an eternal number" for the recipient.

    A&P Slight Befuddlement

Hello EMS family, I'm having a bit of a burdensome time grasping a complete understanding of the heart in my EMT class; (semi-thankfully, I'm not alone in this feeling in my class). Atrium, vena cavae, directional blood flow, etc... Is there any advice on memorization or comprehension...

    Helpful acronyms?

Again, thanks - but (please) understand for some reason it's not working for me. Hence, the re-posting.

@ Cal, thanks - I'm aware. Please see my reply to Desert Medic :)

    Helpful acronyms?

Hello Desert Medic! Yes, I saw it. That's why I specifically said I'm re-posting. However, I was unable to reply to the original thread - and saw the dates were of years ago - so I figured to re-post it - and see if any new acronyms were created or thought of lately. However, thanks for your...

Scope of Practice for Each State - Discussion

According to www.health.ny.gov: Viewed in 2018. Q: Where can I find the scope of practice document for a NYS DOH Bureau of EMS Certified First Responder/EMT/AEMT?\ A: New York State does not have a specific scope of practice document for the CFR/EMT/AEMT. Instead, in NYS, scope of practice for...

    Incomplete classes

NPO, I've thought about that. I even went so far as to inquire how to possibly request a refund. I was pacified by the agency staff in that they will also speak with the instructor. However, if I still feel nothing will change in the next few classes I will withdraw. I would absolutely want a...

DrParasite, that's a great idea. I'll write the things down for talking points. Thanks.

    Incomplete classes

Thanks, MGR. I appreciate the feedback. I will talk with him upon his return, he's out on vacay now so we have an alternate instructor doing practicals with us. I'll heed your advice and approach him gently. If I convey to him that myself (and the other students) are not fully comprehending the...

    The Official EMTLIFE Introduction Thread

Hello all, I'm Lucy, and live in Manhattan NYC. I was an EMT from 2010-2013, and am now returning to EMS because it's a calling to do so, and I'm finally 100% available to do it. I'm in an EMT course now, with my state test coming up in September 2018. Upon completion, I will work out of the...

    Incomplete classes

Hello all, I'm currently in an EMT-B Original Course. I was an EMT years ago, but so many years have passed since my cert expired that I opted not to refresh so that I can get a thorough curriculum. However, the Instructor is not using the textbook the company requested the students obtain...

    Original or refresher?

Truly, this is slightly dizzying. NR doesn't matter because each state determines on their own the issuance of their card. A bit of hoop jumping but I understand states govern EMS differently. I'm just happy to be in the course as is - and renew my service. If I (ever) move to another state, I'd...

    Obstructed Airway Question

Hi Mike, We just talked about this in my EMT-B class yesterday since it was a CPR Course. My answer to you would be yes, still do compressions. The compressions would clear the airway and possible remove the obstruction. Also we discussed the order for an Unconsciouss patient is the A,B,C...

    Original or refresher?

Thanks for the advice. I have decided to take the original course again, and it was the right decision. It's neat you have certs in 3 states - but I have to ask, does a National card not cover that? Or, I guess some states still require their own certs. That makes sense... I appreciate your...

    Original or refresher?

When I passed the test in 2010, I was issued a card with my number on it. I’m sorry, but I’m not sure if I’m understanding your question? Then my card was good for 3 years. I didn’t refresh in time. When I registered for the upcoming original course they advised me I can keep my EMT number, they...
