    How did it go today?

The owner actually brought burgers and dogs for us and did the grilling. Even with the stop by to eat we ran 6 calls.

    Mnemonic for Abdominal Quadrants

I just remember RUQ - Liver/Gallbladder and and LUQ Stomach/Spleen. I find myself randomly pointing to those quadrants and reciting the organs to remind myself.

Keeping a jump bag in your car?

More appropriate for us and everyone else is a more versatile 3 Day Bag/72 Hour Bag/Get Home Bag/Bail Out Bag. It will include the most basic first aid stuff as mentioned in addition to clothing, water, cash, emergency blanket, fire starting stuff, flashlight, knife and/or multitool. Makes...

What made you get into EMS?

Desperation. I took the EMT course because I needed something to do while unemployed. Then I found a "real job." Real job laid me off and I got an EMT job the next week.

Enjoy! Work is for suckers. I'm working my EMT job because I got laid off from a "real" job. Sucks being poor but I was hired at my EMT job the week after I got laid off. Quite amusing.

How do you guys do it?

Get an X-Ray. Make sure the discs and such are still good. Maybe an MRI. If it's just nagging muscle pain, time to work the back.

    Private EMS second class?

Werd. Nothing catches on fire around here except the hills and that's Wildland FF. City fire medics have plenty of time to practice, study, etc. Easy.

    Laziness, the EMS disease.

Yep, low morale. When you come in everyday knowing you'll be driving a :censored::censored::censored::censored:ty rig with 200,000+ miles and poor A/C it really sets the tone for a :censored::censored::censored::censored:ty day. Oh and let's not forget days at a time without lunch breaks.

Highlights of the day: 1. Finishing up rig checkout, sitting in the driver seat when I feel something funky/moving on my head. Instant reaction was to throw my hand up to investigate. Felt fuzzy/squishy for a split second then OW! Thanks Mr. Bee. Stung in the left, middle finger. Good...

Proper Flow To A Call ?

In the lamesauce world of IFT it's really not dynamic. Most of the info is fed to you by the nurse because it's procedure to get a report. After that it's up to you to see how much of the info you can confirm. Some patients talk, some don't but it's as simple as walking in and starting a...
