Seizure with 27 YR old and Consent

The crew is dead wrong....this patient is not capable of making a sound medical decision at this point and it's irresponsible to suggest he go POV.

Become/work as EMT-P before going for MD?

Medical school seems to be the goal regardless of the route taken. Youth is a wonderful betting chip! Few have died from good old fashioned hard work and ambition. Either decision seems like a good one ^_^

    Highest Paramedic Wage in Michigan?

    Detroit EMS and probably Healthlink.

Become/work as EMT-P before going for MD?

Sounds like a good idea if you like eating while you wait for a med. school. I know quite a number of Doc's who went that route and none seem to regret the choice they made. Good Luck either way!

    EMT Salary

The COL in that area is so high. It would be pathetic for any salary/wage to be that low. Gosh, I hope it's more...good luck :D

    Partner not backing me up.....

Now whether or not your idiot partner was right, which she most certainly is not, the symptomology alone says he's not okay. His symptoms did not resolve when he rested for one and a BP of 192/110 has lead to many a bleed. Send her back to Basic EMT. Better yet, MFR. Even better, have a sit down...

Choking diner dies after paramedic refuses to treat him 'for safety reasons'

Not a patron nor employee even attempted to render 999 assisted CPR...got love it. There are no innocents in this scenario exept the crew. They at least followed policy.....weenie crew such as they are. I believe my 5'4 could sit Mr. Honey's drunken 70 year old butt on the floor with little effort.

    ROSC question for medics.

Sure! A few times but frankly, this is rare event. Not only have they become responsive but they were sitting up talking at the ER.No one ever "walked away." One gentleman was hit 17 times and was tubed yet still tried to get up and leave. I'm guessing his LOC may have been nearly as fried as...

    NREMT-P Practical

Mega code is nothing more than any one of the typical ACLS codes. If you know your ACLS, you know what to do. To pace or cardiovert would among the possibilities. Good luck and relax. It's no trick. These practicals are all very cut and dry using typical scenarios.

fear of catching illness from patient

If one is healthy with healthy functions and a healthy idea of what could happen without the good habits we must to have when caring for patients, there is little change of contracting anything more than the occasional cold or flu virus. And those usually come on compliments of a coworker :< (...

    Help with Reciprocity

Taking a class in Buffalo is a good idea. Being just south of the border ourselves here in MoTown, we get occasional students from Canada taking their EMS courses so as to line up work here. Don't know anymore than that but, good luck.

What is the most "saves" you are aware of? Postman has 3

The national average is less than 5%. In a few areas the number is higher but none have exceeded 8%. Not that I've heard anyway. BS sounds pretty accurate.

What is the most "saves" you are aware of? Postman has 3

A save is a person who goes home to continue living a productive lifestyle. I would never count a brain damaged, bed ridden soul a save by any means. To count the ones we do lose is emotionally unhealthy and I've never counted the saves either. But then again, unless they're holding a...

Kelley Grayson on EMS Forum Behavior

One man's opinion..that's all this amounts to be. He's stating his thoughts, beliefs and ideals about what interests him, in the way it interests him. Unless readers have all of the facts he/she can only form thier own (ideals/opinions) based on what information is made available. In otherwords...
