At what point can I rightfully consider myself an EMT-B?

Well, you are certified but not licensed. When you pass the exam and get that winning result, you can call yourself and EMT...but ya can't practice until you receive the license required by your state. Of course the military does its own thing but here, you will have to wait. Good luck and stay...

Anyone have experience with ending life support?

Your Aunt has already been a medical miracle given her defect. Now she's another as the doner of life to others. Her wishes have been fulfilled which makes her life complete....she experienced a wonderful family, beautiful children, she knew love and she knew how to give unconditionally...

    EMT class passes

Tougher, very true, and that can have some nice advantages. Problem is, she also fails people who would have otherwise passed had she taught the course she was paid to teach in the first place. This is paramount to taking money out of the customer's pocket. She is obligated to test only to the...

    EMT class passes

Course success rates have as many reasons as failures have excuses. Sometimes it's just the right mix :)

    Bad Day just gets worse.

There is no chance of an anti-adrogen being used as TCa is not a testosterone fed/drivien cancer. Radiation/chemo depends on the outcome of his tests. Perhaps it's a a stage one, non-agressive cell...we'll hope for that:>) A good number of those require just watchful-waiting. He should check...

    Difference between Angina and AMI

Chest pain, often described as "crushing", brought on by activity and relieved by rest "usually" implies angina. Without testing no diagnosis can be made.

some feedback about leaving one vollie for another

You've made a decision. Do what is best for you. It isn't a prereq that we think of anyone or anything else except our own personal needs at any given time ;)

    Bad Day just gets worse.

Travis, you may not be off as long as you think..hope so anyway. Lets hope chemo isn't in the plan. The following is how radiation went; for one person anyway. I can give several similar stories however, only one had TCa. My better half was back to full duty in 4 weeks following surgery...

Detroit EMS hits a new low

Unions do no such thing and if ya look around, the south still looks 50 years behind the times compared to much of our country. Old run down towns in ruin..... Looks like China, Mexico and India got the last laugh <_<

    Bad Day just gets worse.

Toradol works best for the kind of pain you're having. My better half had TCa in 1995 and experienced no real pain using it. If you need someone to talk with, please feel free. Hope you have a speedy recovery.

    Unions????

And then there are those who talk the talk but won't walk the walk....sorry, rules, codes and policies are there for a reason. Usually the reasons are rooted in mistakes from the past. Anyone who prefers to remain "safe" by staying at a lower level, yet wants an more advanced level opinion...

    Unions????

Ya could always find a better suited position. No one is forced into becoming an EMT. Nice thing about being in the U.S.A. is that we aren't tracked into professions / occupations. We have the ability to pick our poison.

For all the anti-union people who trust the management......

It is true; a company can't be told how to spend resources but, the books are opened up when the company swears it has no funds to pay benefits, wages and other negotiable items. A certain amount of company financials are opened up during all new contract talks. A company may well be running in...
