    Paramedic School Mega-Codes

Just got home from a tour of our colleges brand spankin new SimLab...very nice! Can't wait to put it to use. It's best feature is the ability to provide audio and visual feedback in the debriefing area. Students can watch their own simulation.

    Paramedic School Mega-Codes

I don't agree but, that is not required ;). Realism is not 100% necessary, but stupid? That isn't necessary either. It muddies the goal of the whole exercise. The exercise is to work on thinking through the process. If a student knows a scenario is stupid, he/she will spend way too much time...

    Paramedic School Mega-Codes

Which should give some insight into just how easy mega codes actually are.

    Nerves, or true difficulty

Sooooo....think you can apply this same response to your mentor? A lesson can be learned from almost any experience. :)

    Paramedic School Mega-Codes

Is this during ACLS, or just being stupid during practices?

What skills should be solidified before applying to Medic School?

A good A & P (with a lab) course and med term will help. Assessment, assessment and more assessment. Understanding differentials at your level. Those will also help. PEPP is useful...I can think of a number of ways to give yourself and edge.

    Paramedic School Mega-Codes

Dumb and unproductive. Unless this was meant for fun, it should never have even been used. :glare:

    Nerves, or true difficulty

Forget the smoking....the boss already knows about it, I'd bet. The piss poor professionalism is unacceptable behavior. It's harassing to the 3rd riders and to the patients. Neither is accpetable.

    Nerves, or true difficulty

Any advice from you guys would greatly help me. ~ L First, he would be fired and secondly...why have you not filed a report yet? He doesn't belong in EMS with that behavior, period. The creep has no business acting like a mornon in front of anyone, at anytime on the job.Yes, it sounds...

    "My instructor was the best."

Mr. Brown is a wise man, beyond his years :beerchug:

    "My instructor was the best."

Brown didn't really say how his actual education was though????? All Brown did was tell us what their pedigree papers read. Note how Brown says good things of ONLY the Medics?? Perhaps a goal more worthy of reaching someday, eh Mr. Brown ;)

    "My instructor was the best."

Ok, he ( the LEO) sucks. But, passing NR the first time is not a measure of any self respecting instructor. NR really needs to stop making the one-swipe deal so important. Many people need 2 to pass for a whole host of reasons. The goal of a program is to facilitate, to educate and to mentor...

Is it a bad choice to train to become an EMT/Paramedic then work into being an RN?

Try shaving the stache first. If that doesn't help, you're young; you have the time to do EMS as you continue working on nursing requirements. Walking into an ER job would be pretty easy at that point. Good Luck :)

Differences in Classroom and Ride alongs

Yeah, those are the bad habits NOT to get into! Perhaps the next ride will include better mentors. The assessment is a little more obvious than that, even in the lowest of priorities.

    Routine, but not for me

Good job? ONLY 3 rotations? Ouch...that's rough.

    Is this ethical?

Just try not to burn bridges. You have a job and the other is only an interview. Plus, always try to keep doors open...just in case.

    Idiot nurse

The MRSA is a concern but, she wasn't off base. At least she caught the problem before the patient left the building. What is a concern, is her poor communication skills. "Higher education" is the not the answer to everything ailing society. The cure for ignorance cannot be found in text...
