There’s probably an average of 3-4 medic openings a year depending on who’s retiring or promoting etc. There’s a relatively high number of paramedics on the highway patrol. I know of at least 8 people with a medic license who are waiting for spots to open.

The job varies on where you’re based in the state. Some of our helicopters are in the rotation for the LEMSA while some others serve as sort of a back up to the private air ambulances. If you want to be a flight medic with CHP salary, keep looking. If you want to do law enforcement from a...

Typically it will take longer just because there may not be an open medic spot when you reach your 2 year point. Exceptions have also been made if the need is high enough and there isn’t much interest shown in a certain area. It’s been done in as little as 18 months from graduation to paramedic...

This will be multiple posts since the character limit is only 420. On paper it would take 2.5 years from the day you started the academy at the very least. Academy is 6 months and policy says you have to do 2 years as an officer before applying to an open paramedic position in the air program.

    Criminal Backgrounds and DMV

Welcome to California. California assembly bill 109(AB109) from 2011 is a blast to read about if you have some time. TLDR is the dollar amount of items taken matters a lot now and 7 years ago for him puts him within the new laws.

Are they called "Paramedics" or "Medics"?

FTFY. For a real answer, it’s because people are lazy. Paramedic and medic mean the same thing to most people.

    IO Infiltration?

Both of us think a sloppy hole could be the culprit. I was just giving options earlier with the over penetration example. You’d know real quick if you went through. Like you said, medications wouldn’t have worked or would have been greatly delayed in absorption and/or potency. Also, if it...

    IO Infiltration?

I’m sure somebody will have a better answer but after going to a few cadaver labs where the arrow easy IO has been demo’d I can think of a few possibilities. First thing is the yellow needle is generally considered for use in patients with extra tissue to go through before reaching the...

Civil traffic infractions (Alameda County, CA EMT-Basic)

Thanks, but a traffic stop and being issued a citation are different things. It’s technically a detention until the ticket is written. A ticket doesn’t have to be for a traffic related violation either. For example, people receive tickets for infraction amounts of controlled substances. Just...

Civil traffic infractions (Alameda County, CA EMT-Basic)

As the the forums California Police Officer, you’d be correct checking the Yes box. When stopped and issued a citation/ticket or whatever you’d like to call it, you are in fact being arrested. By signing the ticket you are promising to appear in court or otherwise handle your ticket by paying a...

AMR Palm Springs hiring EMT's for Coachella fest and Stagecoach

Hiring is a written test, skills test, and interview. This is intended to get a feel for you and if you’ll be useful. Being successful at this stage it’s difficult. There’s some mandatory AMR online training you have to complete prior to the first day of the festivals. The in person training...

EMT-B to Paramedic to Become Officer?

Says the wanna be fire fighter. Make daddy proud. Haha. Unfortunately we don’t pay extra for stuff like that. They’ll make sure you have the minimum requirements and you’ll get your salary for that, but you don’t get paid extra for just holding cents. There is education pay, 2.5% for a 2 year...

EMT-B to Paramedic to Become Officer?

As mentioned, I am a CHP Officer and work on a helicopter as a paramedic. I’ll try to touch on a few things that are specific to my department. Going to medic school: I’d say if you have any interest in becoming a paramedic, go for it. It opens plenty of doors, some of them law enforcement...

    AMR Riverside

I don’t work in riverside specifically, but nearby Palm Springs division as a part time medic. Hiring is pretty standard across southern ca, and amr in general. Written test, skills, interview, and physical, maybe not in that particular order. After being hired you’ll have 2 weeks of full...

Part 3 of 3. and lastly, and the most common method, by social security number: the last 4 numbers in descending order. xxx-xx-9999 would have first choice with xxx-xx-0000 being last.
