    Any info on Medreach?

Dialysis transfers get repetitive. It's not that the patients are "bad", but there's nothing we as EMS providers provide as far as medical care during routine dialysis transfers. It's basic, non-emergency transport work, but that's 80% of 911 EMS anyway.

    Paramedics Inserting PICC Lines

If you'd like to find a medical director and charge $400 for "discount PICC placement" by an inexperienced provider, be my guest. I, for one, will continue to pay the expected fee (with insurance of course) to receive the procedure from the right person, trained in the right way, at the right...

Haha. You'll have to give us progress reports if it is Tigger. I find community based shaming is the best way to provide constructive criticism. This makes me really glad no one I work with saw me as a new EMT or a paramedic student. Perhaps moving across the country after you begin to get...

Blech. I couldn't breathe well enough to sleep due to sinus congestion, so I took Sudafed. Now my sinus congestion is better, but I'm jittery and awake from the Sudafed. Immune system, why have you betrayed me?????

Our paramedic intern seems to be a bit of a black cloud, but only at the end of shifts. We had a bad wreck with a fatality and another Priority 1 patient her first shift, and an RSI last night. Let's see what next tour holds in store!

    Best Ambulance Manufacturers?

That's because they have the separate generator just to run the power to the mod itself. I haven't worked in a Frazer for several years, but the gen sets used to constantly break and were horribly unreliable.

Outstanding work! Now go forth and apply pulse oximetry in confidence without being accompanied by ALS [emoji6]

    Paramedics Inserting PICC Lines

I wouldn't consider it a "surgical procedure" per se, and it certainly doesn't require techs, anesthesia, or additional help from nurses during placement. It's not a level of training issue either. It's not that a paramedic isn't capable of learning to place one, but I stand by my earlier...

    Drug Cooler

Clearly our fluid warmer is for keeping pizza warm and our cooler for keeping ice cream frozen. That's always been my assumption at least.

    Perhaps Ativan?

    Paramedics Inserting PICC Lines

Oh boy. I'm really reluctant to even get into this. Why in the world would a paramedic be the most qualified person to do this type of procedure? We're supposed to be pre-hospital/emergency medical care professionals, not cheaper alternatives to whoever should be performing a procedure. You...

    Newbie Intro

Welcome to the forum Mike! I think it's great to have people here with various real careers outside of EMS. You can certainly bring a different and valuable perspective. As far as advice goes, I'd recommend checking out the forum as a whole and using the search function, and then asking more...

I left my x-ray goggles at home too. I'm not a doctor, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night.

I cringe a little bit when my partner tells a 40 year old with obviously musculoskeletal back and chest pain that he "strongly recommends" transport to the ED via ambulance since "he might die." The guy tried to do the right thing and ask if he could follow up with his PCP instead! Those kind of...

    Restraints for combative patients

I think that's a pretty ridiculous assumption to make. Anecdotal evidence has no bearing, since I'm sure we can all relate stories of patients who became aggressive when we didn't expect it.

As a volunteer agency, does RockMed still cover something like the Super Bowl? Honestly, it's shocking to me that a volunteer agency provides primary stadium medical coverage at any NFL game, but even more for an event like the Super Bowl. With the amount of money and resources in an...
