Post the # your test stopped at, and if you Passed/Failed

As I said. 40 isn't possible. 26 minutes. That's possible. I did my recert last year as recert-by-exam. Cut off at 80 questions (minimum) and I think I was out the door ~30 minutes after starting, and I wasn't trying to go fast. For some reason, the test got easier the 2nd time!

    Nobody dies in an ambulance?

I've always made it a goal to have a life-neutral ambulance. They don't die in the truck, and they damn sure aren't born in the truck (that's a MESS). I've been successful on the 2nd half, anyway - so far. As for "what to do when the DNR patient dies" - If you're doing these runs with a valid...

Wear both NREMT and state patches?

Umm. Yeah. I currently only wear state patches. I've got an old uniform sweater I'm thinking of wearing more. Probably gonna put a flag and a NREMT-P (rocker) patch on it, for the heck of it. Then I can wear it across a couple of different places in place of a blank coat / jobshirt.

    First Call of the Year

First actual call I didn't get cancelled on? Assist EMS w/ a "well being check". Crazy guy keeps calling 911. Never saw the patient myself, left the call with PD. Haven't actually seen a patient yet this year. That'll change in the AM with a TPN Taxi shift.

Not to call BS, but if you took NREMT, it just isn't POSSIBLE to only get 40 questions. It IS possible to loose track of your number, though. :)

    Metropolitan Area employment

They JUST started a class in late November or so. Lost 2 coworkers to Philly Fire. I don't know when the next one will be... I've heard different things about how long they wait.

    Hi

Exactly. Differences in local terminology. In my neck of the woods, the state recognizes "Quick Response Service" vehicles.

    Hi

Welcome! Campus EMS is pretty fun. I like it as variety. The population is mostly young and healthy, so many of the calls are sorta BS. But they still get beat up or fall down stairs. You guys have an ambulance? QRS? Nothing?

    Mistake? Should I have backboarded?

If you haven't had a patient start complaining of neck or back pain on ED arrival, you haven't been doing this long. Usually he RN's understand when we say "that's new". Just document for CYA

    Mandatory Radio Reports?

Think urban. In my case, Philadelphia and DC metro. We aren't really surprising the ED staff. They expect EMS, and often keep all their beds full. Unless I'm bringing a code, CPAP, or trauma alert - they don't care. They'll figure it out when we get there.

Time Between Application & Available to Work Date

You've got nothing to loose by trying. Some places might even keep you on the rolls as a PRN employee year round. If you're able to work Christmas, for example, it would be another good thing for you.

    Mandatory Radio Reports?

Very location dependent. In the more urban areas I've run, you just show up unless you need Command for some reason, or it's a code or trauma. In the more suburban areas, we either call for notification, or have the county radio room make the notification.
