    Looking at Moving to Texas

Refresh my memory, you were with EMSA correct? You may want to look at AMR Frio County if that's the case. 911, decent volume, meets your salary requirement and then some, paid the full shift, and plenty of available OT opportunity in San Antonio. Plus you retain a portion of your seniority...

Anyone in Houston Fire Department EMS? Got a few questions!

Yes, everyone still goes on a board, likely with duct tape. Pain management philosophy is simple, "get em to definitive, higher level of care and fast".......................

    Guilty Pleasures on Duty.

I'll take a nap and go play "big spoon / little spoon " with my nurses.

Ambulance crashes into disabled vehicle on I5 median after falling asleep, with video

Fatigue mitigation is a hot topic in many safety cultures currently. I expect it to become even more popular as insurance agencies are starting to scrutinize untrained overworked drivers that are causing preventable accidents and their agencies by not having a fatigue mitigation oversight...

    Question about getting hired

It's Acadian, not Arcadia. Your credentials would be equal to any other recent EMT graduate. Unfortunately, a lot of credentials you presented will have no weight on competitive employment. You also are likely going to need AHA CPR to meet their internal credentialing requirements...

EMT has a little bit too much fun in the rig

Pathetic example for our profession. Yet another shining example of why we constantly hear the term Ambulance Driver. .................

    AMR Houston

Starting pay for an EMT-B is higher than $12.00 per hour. The equipment is current and continuously being updated. Good place to work in Houston, strong presence and strong stability.

I Want Stryker and Ferno stretchers

Ebay or a "global distribution specialty company" like Med Worldwide that may or may not be able to deliver a product? At that price, does the unit come with batteries? Is it up to date on inspection and PM? Accessories? Sounds a little too good to be true.

    CCT: credentialing critical care providers

Other than the edited post from one of our colleagues, it appears that I am in the correct thread.

I Want Stryker and Ferno stretchers

At $5k you can forget about the Power Pro, $7-8k is about the best you'll find. Have you tried calling Acadian or AMR, they may have some spares that they're looking to offload. Also, there are plenty of online used options.

    CCT: credentialing critical care providers

Most patients can also be safely ventilated with a BVM. Safe doesn't always equate to efficient or optimal. For your completely paralyzed or apnic patient it is a fine barebones transport ventilator. For your conscious, hemodynamically challenged ICU patient being weened from the vent and...

CCT: Vent. Transports Gone Wrong. Air or Ground

For those still carrying the LTV series, the sprintpack is a lifesaver. 12+ hours on the battery pack easily with hot swap capability. Also the Impact 731 EMV+ has an amazing battery.

    CCT: credentialing critical care providers

Questionable? Grossly negligent is the term that comes to my mind.

    CCT: credentialing critical care providers

As far as standards go, CAMTS is the industry accepted standard, just as JCAHO is the standard for hospitals. While they are not regulatory in nature, their best practice recommendations are well established and viewed favorably across the country. Personally, I'm glad to see NREMT bowing out of...

    CCT: credentialing critical care providers

I think "wild west" is a little bit of a stretch. Some are actually viewing critical care as a needed progression to ensure that quality providers are caring for the higher acuity patients that need more than just a paramedic ride from point "a" to point "b".

    Off duty and inebriated

No damned if I don't here! I am under no obligation when I'm off duty and am not exposing my drunk a$$ to any unnecessary liability by getting involved. I also have no interest or concern with any family members perception of the situation. They should focus their time on helping their loved...

Just when I thought stupidity in EMS would no longer surprise me........

Then I see this on Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=671331589568488&set=a.199179716783680.50226.117877988247187&type=1&theater Does the cold weather in Northern Michigan cause some sort of pathophysiological influx of stupidity I am not aware of?

    Phoenix Medics Tests Google Glass

From a community Paramedic and CCT standpoint, I see great benefit in collaboration, education, and QA. For the run of the mill pre-hospital 911 service, I feel the cost is not justified nor as beneficial. Consent is simple, if you accept care and provide informed consent, you consent to...
