Coming back to EMS, after being asked to leave? opinons wanted..

I would suggest throwing yourself into a standoffish environment: maybe take part in a lot of ridealongs, training, simulations, etc. Once you see how you react to that stimulus, you'll be much more prepared to make your final choice. Best of luck, in whatever you choose to do.

Erm, seem to have hit it off wrong When I said I didn't fill the O2 tanks, its because they asked me to only move them. I don't think they would want somebody with no experience restoring their equipment. I realize that at the moment I'm not even on the ladder, but I hope that by acting mature...

    New to the gang

The best way to break barriers is surpass them, and you only have a "disability" if you let it weigh you down. Dont ever let someone tell you that you cant do things.:)

Did she come out okay from the whole experience? 3 days is about when body functions start to act weird, from my limited knowledge.

Well, I made a few friends with an ambulance crew, by helping them scrub down their rig after a rough call (and lugging the empty main O2 canister, not filling it myself). Got slightly more respect from the rest of the station after I helped em clean up the command vehicle, and then they...

    Situation tonight, was I wrong?

Arent there clear cut standards for when a pt. no longer requires care? I thought that they included rigor mortis, injuries incompatible with life, and one or two more.

I think far side cartoons should be required in heated discussions, they certainly have a nicer way of saying things:rolleyes:

So I visited the department I plan to volunteer at today, and noticed a few things. 1. There are people of all types there. The guy leading me around was an EMT trainee looking to get paramedic, and diligently cleaning out rigs and whatnot. His officer, a 20-something EMT-B, left the rig...

Went to the local VFD's open house to look around, meet people, etc. 15 or so minutes after I arrive (the days been very light up to this point) all the units save one engine (1 medic, 2 ambulances, a ladder, a rescue, and an engine) get dispatched out to some huge incident. Just as I leave...

Speaking of hurting people with utensils... I know a kid who decide to show us how he could stab an orange with a fairly sturdy plastic straw (by keeping the back end folded up, and going straight down, you can apparently make a neat little corkscrew through it). He forgot to fold the end under...
