    How old were you?

I was 19 when I got my basic. I'll probably be 21 before I become a full intermediate.

So what do you guys do to stay in shape?

I run. Marathons and pretty soon ultramarathons. I've just got to get over the messed up ankle first.

    Emt-b to emt-intermediate

Georgia is national registry. Also in Georgia (at least in the county I'm from) they do a class that's basic then intermediate (the basic portion is only about a month) and then you take another class for paramedic.

    First Responder certification

So for someone on a rescue team with a WFR do they need to get a state certification? Does their WFR have it if they took it in this state? The whole wilderness medicine certification thing confuses me. Do they follow the same basic cirriculum as someone who gets a street first responder or...

    Emt-b to emt-intermediate

Have you tried private services in ATL? They may hire basics for transports but the pay will be horrid. Almost all EMS in GA is with fire so I would check with them. The Glynn county area has a good program. That is 4 hours south of Atlanta so you would have to move. It is where I grew up...

    First Responder certification

For first responders (WFR in particular) do they need to apply for a state license like an EMT does after they get their national registry? I tried doing a google search but couldn't find anything. These would be people using their WFR under the jurisdiction of a sheriff's department.

Who wouldn't stage right next to a gang related shooting and wait on for PD? Sounds legit to me. The scene was totally safe.

The 5.11 tactical pants are worth every penny. The knee pads are also removable.

WEMT through NOLS or NOLS WFR + EMT through local CO programgs

Well looks like my friend from summit is on a similar wavelength! Oh and another thing. I like the traditional EMT class better because it is a longer amount of time. That means more time to get yourself into the mindset and to learn it better. I think those skills will stick with you longer...

WEMT through NOLS or NOLS WFR + EMT through local CO programgs

I think NOLS is over priced and not worth it. I am also on a SAR team in CO and you will be fine without the WEMT because much of the time you will be running with EMS or they will be on their way. Most situations are treated the same regardless of injury or CC because of the backcountry...

    King-LT vs. LTSD

I am working on getting the mountain rescue team set up with kings but I realized there are two kinds. Is there a huge advantage with the LTSD? Is it worth the extra money? Do you guys think kings in general are worth the money for a crew of basics that would otherwise be using OPAs?

For the Women Paramedics...unless guys wear sports bra's

We always just use cheap people shampoo on the horses....it doesn't really seem to make a difference. And if the horse is grey or has white markings we use shampoo for old people with white hair.....or Soft Scrub cleaner.
