Eric Holder: Police should carry drugs antidote

An interesting question that was presented to me from Chris Cebollero was are these responders that carry Naloxone willing to continue treatment of the patient or are they just going to stand back and watch after administration? In other words, will they be carrying an AED and be willing to do...

Grim scene - bystander/first responder GSW scenario

I'm talking about both, but for the sake of argument, the original poster's scenario was about about an off duty situation whereby we are bystanders. I agree these would be two totally different situations since while you are on duty you most likely would be dealing with an SOP on gunshot...

Grim scene - bystander/first responder GSW scenario

Thanks for the refresher course, but I don't recall signing up for the class. All I'm saying is be open to changing situations where you have to determine what is safe for you and what is not. The original thread poster has this scenaro where we are part of the bystanders and not on duty. If I...

Grim scene - bystander/first responder GSW scenario

You can't be serious? A domestic dispute situation is already an active hostile environment and you would rather duke it out with a drunk? Now you're really asking for trouble. This is what I mean about some of the silly responses here. Anytime you come into close contact with a hostile...

Grim scene - bystander/first responder GSW scenario

Some of the responses here are just plain silly. Clearly most of the responders that have posted here have not worked in high crime areas or have had very little to no exposure to such situations. First responders are far more likely to be injured or killed in an ambulance crash than be shot...

    Time for boots again!

I use the 5.11 Sleet and it is a very warm and waterproof boot for winter! I wear these with my black 5.11 tactical and then I switch to the 5.11 desert boot with my khaki 5.11 tactical in the summer. The 5.11 Sleet is a great winter boot, but too warm for me in the summer.

Advice on making our hometown rescue squad better..

This is not a really good site to come to and expect to find any semblance of a qualified and non-biased answer to your query. There is a fairly large sanction of anti volunteer members here and I'm sure you already bumped into a few of them with this thread. You may want to check out the NVFC...

    Brady Books

Hold on to your hat, because I know for a fact the Mosby books were written to... get this, a 6th grade reading level!! On Mosby's Paramedic Text book by Sanders, I shot many of the photos and I'm personal friends with the authors, Sanders and McKenna. I remember how angry Mick was when he...

    C-Collars On Their Way Out?

I thought maybe you could elaborate on a few points from your above post. Your point, MONEY. Are you suggesting that EMS product developers, suppliers, etc. have an influence or input as to what is published in our EMS textbooks? Or somehow have directed EMS educational standards to such an...

    Re: "Paintballers!" thread lock

Ah! Now you're real intent is clear with this subject. All you want to do is draw MMiz out and into a debate and you're clearly irritated he won't engage. That's childish.

Yes, we know now. You've vented your disapproval three times in this very thread. You remind me of one of my daughters... won't shut up until she gets her way.

San Diego now has Advanced EMT.

No, I will not stop saying what I said. I currently work for 4 major EMS text book publishers and I've been very involved with the standards committees for several years. As a matter of fact, several members of the committees are close working associates of mine, so don't haul in here hiding...

San Diego now has Advanced EMT.

It won't be reinvented. The new standards, scope of practice, etc. has been an undertaking for over ten years and has involved participation from every state, industry stake holders, EMS publishers, etc. One of the keys to keep this standardized was to get all of the publishers on board in which...

    Health Care Reform

Well the Democrats would sure like you to believe that health care is a civil right and they've gone to the extent of making comparisons to the Civil Rights Act of 1964. But the problem in getting people like myself to swallow this notion is that the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was supported by...
