In my area an EMT is lucky we get to do chest compressions. Seriously there is nearly no difference between first responders and EMT's in their scope. NPA's are considered ALS. Nothing but stretcher fetchers here where I am at.

Yup trained in all of that, but most of it is considered ALS (especially narcan, CPAP, OPA, NPA) I will genuinely be an ambulance driver and a stretcher fetcher. That is just for my area, YMMV.

I am not saying that EMT's should do more. I am complaining that what we can do is too little for the pt. EMT's literally do the exact same things as certified first responders in my area. Why train someone for months to do the exact same thing that someone with a few weeks of training does...

I take the Mod 5 test tomorrow and I have read the crap out of the chapters but I don't feel that is helping. Can you help by simply asking questions that will make my mind think? Mod 5 is trauma and environmental emergencies. Much appreciated

I am about halfway through class and we have already lost 9 of 20 students. How many did you have in your class and how many passed? Of those, how many are still in EMS? I would like to know the odds if you know what I mean.

We are using Emergency Care (12 edition) for our EMT class. I really think it could have been organized better but it is what we have to use. What books did you use?

I am weirdly shaped and have really flat feet. I have to be sized specific in order to get pants and boots that fit. Luckily I found an Army surplus store that sells both boots and pants for affordable money.
