I know that AMR Santa Barbara hires EMTs frequently. However, they just had an open recruitment and closed it, and they are testing this group on July 16th, so you may have missed out this time around. Keep your eyes open though because I know they hire a lot. Good luck!

Anthony - when did you take the medic test? I heard that they have recently changed the whole test and it is now significantly more difficult. Out of the last group of medics they tested, rumor was that only one made it through the process and was hired.

If you've already been offered a position then I don't think it is out of line to ask them at this point. Surprising they haven't already told you - usually included in the final stages of hiring, and you're already hired.

I did it the first time I re-cert'ed my N.R. It just says to the NR that you aren't currently working, and therefore you can continue to re-cert (every 2 years) without showing any proof of employment...by doing this you keep your cert, but continue to stay inactive until you are hired in EMS...

What is your end career goal? If it is EMS, in my opinion I'd say put the bachelor's on hold, become a medic, and then complete your degree once you're working as a medic. I'm sure others will have different opinions. This is just mine. Good luck whatever you decide to do
