Moving my family to Santa Maria

I know that AMR Santa Barbara hires EMTs frequently. However, they just had an open recruitment and closed it, and they are testing this group on July 16th, so you may have missed out this time around. Keep your eyes open though because I know they hire a lot. Good luck!

    AMR santa Barbara

Anthony - when did you take the medic test? I heard that they have recently changed the whole test and it is now significantly more difficult. Out of the last group of medics they tested, rumor was that only one made it through the process and was hired.

    New registry numbers?

Hey all - Passed NREMT-P about 5 days ago (first time, 80 questions, totally not bragging ;)) and I received my card yesterday. After comparing it with a buddy who got his some time last year, I noticed that my registry number starts with an M, and his starts with a P. I know the...

    The "moment" - Medic School

Thanks for the reply. Glad to know that it may be a while before I feel 'ready' to be working on my own. I guess a lot of that will come from my field internship which feels just around the corner, so I have that to look forward to at least.

    The "moment" - Medic School

So I have about a month and a half left of the didactic portion of Medic school. I feel like I've come a LONG way and feel pretty confident both out in the field and doing scenarios in class. But I also don't feel anywhere near ready to be a Medic out there doing it for real. I've read lots...

    MEDREACH $$$ pay los angeles???

If you've already been offered a position then I don't think it is out of line to ask them at this point. Surprising they haven't already told you - usually included in the final stages of hiring, and you're already hired.

    Dispatch training in California??

As far as I know, most dispatch jobs provide on-the-job training, as every CAD system is going to operate differently, different policies, different specialized training (whether you go PD/FD/EMS dispatch, or any combination of those). I'm also unfamiliar with the central valley but the only...

    Clinical Hours??

My program divides classroom, clinical, and internship. Can't start one before finishing the other. I believe minimum required clinical (hospital rotation) hours is 150-300

Pretty cool image - curious about what looks like the hub from a catheter used for a needle cric? Am I seeing things? or trying to make cool things up in my head....

Inactive status and 6 month rule

I'm trying to think back. It's been about 4 years. I worked as an EMT for almost 9 months the first year I was certified. In order to become Inactive, you still have to have worked at some point within the first 2 years, so I had to submit proof that I had done so (pay stubs were fine). After...

Inactive status and 6 month rule

I did it the first time I re-cert'ed my N.R. It just says to the NR that you aren't currently working, and therefore you can continue to re-cert (every 2 years) without showing any proof of employment...by doing this you keep your cert, but continue to stay inactive until you are hired in EMS...

    Taking registry on a weekend

Possible to do medic school + bachelor's?

What is your end career goal? If it is EMS, in my opinion I'd say put the bachelor's on hold, become a medic, and then complete your degree once you're working as a medic. I'm sure others will have different opinions. This is just mine. Good luck whatever you decide to do

Possible to do medic school + bachelor's?

I work full-time and go to medic school. Granted, the didactic portion of my school is part-time, thus making it more bearable... but it still becomes a challenge at times. Personally I couldn't speak to going through schooling for a Bachelor's, though my girlfriend is doing it, and it seems...

    Where to start.

Lifeline is in Ventura County (based out of Ventura - the city). They run first-in 911 in Ojai, and IFTs throughout the County. You'd start on IFT but would have the opportunity to move into 911 eventually. I believe AMR just hired, and it is very rare that they hire EMTs in VC, so I'd say apply...
