    "Getting close to" * Teacher

I am surprised that the ARC said you could not tell them to dress for physical activity, I am an AHA instructor and that is in every letter that goes out to the students: Dress for physical activity while kneeling on the floor for this class; as it is a requirement to perform the skills for your...

Help with A&P refresher for free

Jay, I am prepping for the new Advanced EMT course in PA and several of the medics I work with regularly highly suggested the physio and anatomy books that are coloring based...I balked at first too, but it is a fairly cheap expense to get some good hands on learning I have found. The books are...

    Aemt

It looks like in Pa at least, after this year of transition with implementation of the AEMT program; the plan is to require people starting in 2015-2016 to run the full gamut if they wish to become a Paramedic, EMR to EMT to AEMT to Paramedic finally. Not sure if that is a good idea or not...

    Aemt

we are in the rural urban interface region, we do have als ambulances in the area but they are limited in number. We are currently running a BLS quick response truck and with the growing population it has been determined by the powers that be we need to upgrade to an ALS QRS truck, also we have...

    Aemt

Just got an email for the class and sounds like it is more in line with what you said, 250 classroom, and an additional 60 hours split between ER and riding on a rig with a paramedic in addition to that. Since this is the first run I am sure things are still a bit fluid and will change as we...

    Aemt

Just got tapped to take the brand new shinny AEMT course in PA. This is the first run of the program and including clinical (48) and lab (24) time will end up being a 250 hour program, this sound about right in other states that are using the AEMT level?

What to do about expired license and taking the test again?

Call your EMS council in your region. PA DOH has them listed. Due to the length of time your license has been expired; I have only seen people in this situation with one option, retake the course and meet the current requirements. NREMT is now the test that you take, the PA state exam ended...

Burning out on the American Red Cross (rant, and open to ideas)

I just completed my instructor certification course for AHA last night. 10 people in the class and I was the only newbie, all the other people were former ARC instructors and were glad to have made the switch. Might want to see if there are any instructor courses for AHA in your area, they are...

    NJ Re-certification help

That is the catch though, NREMT will not let you recert unless you have the papers signed off by your employer, therefore; to my understanding you would have to go through the entire process to obtain EMT again. He has never worked as an EMT that is what I thought would jam him up. Might be...

    Recertification Question

If you continue to have a problem finding a full time job in EMS, check and see if you have any volunteer fire stations in your area. Most of the stations in my area run a QRS (Quick Response Service) truck that works under medical direction from the ambulance provider in your area. Chances...

    NJ Re-certification help

You need to talk with your state licensure agency, everything is changing at this time in the north east part of the country. If your state has already made the transition to NREMT and reciprocal licensing then I think you are stuck with having to take the entire program over at this point.

    National Standards

Sounds like this is a bi-polar thread....it started out discussing education and training standards and then protocols and policy nosed in. In my view, at least, these are two different animals. I do feel that one core education and training standard be set for the entire nation, that gives a...
