EMT recert. by exam (transition from EMT-B to EMT)

That's fine, I understood you. One thing I did notice, on the Pearson Vue site, I am registered for the NREMT-E test. Which is obviously different from NREMT-B. So lets hope its just the transition. I bought an updated EMT book to study from, as mine is almost 4 years old.

EMT recert. by exam (transition from EMT-B to EMT)

NREMT does not have a contact email, so I will try calling next week. I am scheduled for a recertification by examination in a few weeks as my certificate expires the end of the month. I currently have a valid certificate in Colorado which expires in 2014. According to the State of...

    CARE ambulance

tips I got hired by them, and turned the job down because I got better pay and didn't have to make a commitment to them. You go in and take a written test, followed by skills. Go first. They were nitpicky. Know your stuff. The guy kept asking if i missed anything. I thought i didn't. He...

    Ambulance Driver's License (ADL)

well.. I woke up one morning, 10am, went down to the DMV, purchased the book, while waiting an hour in line, I read the book, took the test and missed 1. Dunno, but that's just me, lol.

    EMT-P as M.D.

Lol I just read through this whole thread and found it hilarious. From what I have heard, most medical schools actually frown upon EMT-P as applicants. Basically they "unlearn" what you learned in Paramedic school and begin teaching you medicine from there. I'm an EMT-B, working on my...

    Education levels

hmmm I definitely clicked the yes button. Personally, I am one of those "users of the EMT certificate" I have plans for medical school and am currently working on my bachelor's of science degree. I could not fathom a career in EMS, mainly because of the many flaws of the system...

    Benefit of Psychology

I've done a little bit of that, I'm sure it will be covered later in more details, I still have a few more psych classes to complete. I am currently pre-medicine, working as an EMT. I completely agree with what you said in your previous post.

    Benefit of Psychology

lol Basically what I'm using as a base for my medical career! I am a Psychobiology major. I feel with many of the classes I have taken, I have a better understanding of a career in medicine and dealing with patients then any other pre-med in their major. Some of the classes I've taken...

    Awesome new TV Show: Southland

I would disagree with that article though. The 10pm Thurs. time-slot belonged to E.R. for the past 15 or so years, the time slot should not be a problem at all. I watched the pilot, it was great. Definitely shot like E.R. is done, which I loved, definitely captivated me and kept me wanting more.

    Civilan responses

happen to me when i was working down there. On my way to L.A. for a fire call and happened to come across a pickup on fire. Called it in, first on-scene besides us was the tow/service who put up cones and secured the scene within like 2 minutes. Then the local fire service arrived, put out the...

Do you have what it takes to work a code?

I never said it was about me. I was trained to determine death, but only certain guidlines. It's obviously up to a paramedic for the more specific ones. In my case it wouldn't actually happen because there would most likely be a paramedic with me. But personally, unless I saw rigor mortis...

Do you have what it takes to work a code?

I'm only an EMT-B, just wondering though, how do you know when to say that "I'm sorry" part. To my understanding, I am not medically trained yet to determine that. If their is a chance I could keep working that ped and bring them into the hospital for a doctor to save them, then I would. I would...

    Medical school graduate....

I just love all the criticism of him saying he wants to work as an EMT for fun while awaiting his residency. I personally find EMT work very enjoyable and while at college, I missed my "summer job". I actually started a job at college working as an EMT for that very reason. To me, EMT is not my...

    Ride Time

hmm, I got lucky during my ride-along. Had a total of 8 calls that day with 2 cancels on scene. 3 diabetic emergencies, prisoner transport, 2 snf transports, panic attack, and a t/c. Pretty interesting day, got to ride code 3 during one of the diabetic emergencies. This girl in my EMT...

    Southern California Private Ambulance Companies

OC IFTs I work in Orange County. What is said above pretty much applies to OC as well. Care, Doctors, and Medix seem to run the 911 contracts doing transport for fire. My company is IFTs. We do a lot of emergency CCTs, which require code 3. Although, i disagree with the nursing home thing...
