Just curious has anyone had to treat a patient for this yet. Evidently, it is the new trend for teenagers to get drunk. It's not only the females doing it, but the males as well..
Lets see. Had a 5 year old female struck by a truck. They pulled her off the vent today. Had a 7 year old male code, unable to resuscitate. The night pretty well sucked. Other than that it was all PD and Fire the rest of the time.
Fish, Ambulance Inc. of Laurel Co. figures up to be a little over 19.00 an hr. Madison Co. is close to that as well. There is currently around 20 positions posted just for medics. Hope this helps.
Not all the time. I have seen "duct tape" used to help immobilize a pt. Yes, medical tape would have worked too, but you grab what is the closest to you. No need to run to the truck to get medical tape if duct tape is closer.
At least you get OT. If we work OT and it is on the check it is counted as straight pay. PT employees don't get time and a half where I am. If you work 60 hours you get paid regular pay for 60 hrs. Yeah it sucks.. lol
I count for 15 sec. and multiply by 4, and then check and see if it is close to the reading on the Lifepak 15. If its close we go with it, if its far off, I got the full 60.
I still say that KY isn't that bad. Cost of living isn't sky high, and pay is pretty good. I mean some places start out medics at 14.00+ and emt's at 10.00+
Play golf. If you don't play, start. It helps take your mind off what your thinking about because you have to concentrate on hitting that little white ball.
Don't forget that you can fail the station if you tighten the straps to tight. They want them tight, but not keeping the pt, from being able to breathe.
