I work for Paramedics plus here in florida. Its a really good place and they treat me right anyway. We do everything from inside the county including IFT and 911. The academy was 3 weeks long with the first 2 weeks of protocols, how they work, what to do, etc... basically how they expect you to...

Has anyone here been required to take the FEMA NIMS classes ? Its all disaster based training.

16 in high school when I started to volunteer, state cert in 87, EMT i in 90.. did it til 99. NREMT Basic in Florida in 2010 (age 39) and medic at 41.... teacher says to me " who says ya cant teach an old dog new tricks" lol...

Either way... NREMT says I must take both. My problem arose because the instructors here told me to take the paperwork and submit it to the NREMT, and take ONLY the written, then send in the $$$ to florida. Taking only one test...which is not possible according to the NREMT. They say no matter...

Sorry guys and gals, not so sure where to put this. So, I am testing for the Florida paramedic exam. My question is national related though. I want to become Nationally certified as well, but do you have to take a written AND a practical exam to certify or just one ?

Just wondering what you all use for your trauma education. I have been told there was lots of issues with ITLS, and some were using PHTLS,BTLS, and more. So, question is what do you use ?
