Can anyone answer the pay scale for Paramedics in Ireland? Is it band based salary like in the UK? In my understanding, both these professions start with band 5 in the UK. Are Paramedics earn better, equal or less than nurses (RN) in Ireland?

Never knew paramedics can be contracted to other countries. Always thought was military only. Very Interesting read

I have no interest in contract work, but sandpit's posts are right on. This is fascinating stuff to me .

It's a point based system. Coming from overseas you will most likely start at the lowest point (28k Euro), since you have no direct experience in their country.

They haven't updated this since 2011, but from what I understand it's still accurate

I know the LAS were hiring internationals but a quick Google seems to say this has stopped. I don't know about if any other English Trusts are doing it still.

I think you'll find Australia doesn't do it anymore either but I could be wrong; they had a bit of a push to get Kiwi and English ambos about five years ago. Certainly NZ hasn't recruited internationally for 5 to 7 years and the last internationals I know who were recruited were senior ops managers. An international is now very rare, I can't think of any off the top of my head who haven't been in for at least 5 to 10 years.

The problem is, at least in this part of the world, is the degree programs are now producing sufficient numbers of graduates to keep up numbers. That was certainly not the case

They're open to Australian and Kiwi medics, but the US is mostly shut out. I believe SouthEast Coast Ambulance Trust still has an international route. They have a more streamlined process for transferring paramedic license. The process for the US path is incredibly tedious. Another big issue is the drivers license. Aus/Kiwi license will laterally transfer without any issues. However, coming from the US you will have to retest for everything, and you're looking at around $3000 to get the HD license that's required for ambulances.
