CA Skills requirement?

My friend just got his EMT recert today, and he told me that either this year or next year California will do away with requiring to take the skills test for recertification?

Anyone have some insight on if this is true or not?

I have not heard any mention about this at all.

Me neither. This is news to me. I guess the instructor told him that California is wanting to just be separate and have their entirely own new system.

Wouldn't surprise me. CA trying to be different and further alienate from other states. What they call progressive I call recessive.

Except I've never had to take a skill recert to renew my card in any other state. In this they are falling more in line with everywhere else

I did not know other states don't do a skills test to recert...what do most states do then when it comes time to recert?

A signature from your medical director that you are competent to perform the skills as outlined.

Heh? We get two skills verifications that are required for our county recerts. Our medical director signs off on out NREMT(P) skills as well.

As far as CAEMS requiring skills verification? This is news to me. The 48 CE hours that I turn in for my medic bi-annually has always been sufficient.
