Last I checked you must be an EMT-I or P to work on an ambulance in GA. There are very few, if any places that utilize basics.
I believe that most fire departments in GA expect/require their fire fighters to be EMT-B in order to serve as First Responders. I could be mis-remembering that, though.
Halfway right on that. Georgia is one of those states that does not "offically" recognize EMT-B, though they will issue you a license as such. As far as the FD's, all depts. have their own policy. Such example, Cobb County Fire requires EMT-I and it done by the Dept itself after 3 months of Fire school you do 3 months of EMT school then your assigned your station. Cobb Fire is a ALS non transporting dept. Then you go one county over and the FD only requires a EMR class thats done by the dept and they dont have to take NR. Granted they do have medics on the dept but they are a BLS non transporting dept.On the flip side of it. You will be hard pressed to find a job as a Basic....
Since you're in GA and I'm, well, not, I defer to your more immediate knowledge.
