I was just curious about this because I applied for my first emt-b job and it states having a certain kind of drivers license, I cant remember what it was.

Some places require just a drivers license (in California, a plain license is a "Class C" license) and other places require a special ambulance drivers license or certificate (California requires an ambulance driver license in addition to a Class C license).

Some states that do not require licenses my require their employees or personnel to pass a in house CEVO course.

In Maine you need an Ambulance Vehicle Operations Cert... AVOC...

According to that google thing, you do not need one in Missouri. Just be careful and learn how to back into tight spots or you will get laughed at a lot.

Here they just call it EVOC (Emergency Vehicle Operations Course). There shouldn't be any huge differences between emergency driving in an ambulance, firetruck, or police car. You have to know how to handle traffic yielding to you, how to use sirens, how to go through intersections safely, and what speeds you can drive.

And as far as I know, Ca is one of the only states that requires an ambulance license.

And it is not even a license - it is an "endorsement"; which means that you passed a written test with the DMV and paid a fee. It is not a new class of license, just a piece of paper you carry with it.

Yeah, even stranger here we have EVOC too... but you cannot drive an ambulance with it... BUT... if you have AVOC you can drive a fire truck.
