While it is not a pleasant situation, why is is so odd that one of these would be involved in EMS?

Thos of us in EMS are not anything more than mere mortals. Those looking in from the outside never really know, look at BTK.

These man were, it would appear, & it would appear outwardly in their community, God fearing & will probably claim they were doing it in the name of God.

This goes to show that we can never really know who you work with, who your neighbours are or who your friends are.

well hold on. These people have not been convicted of anything as of yet. All the facts are not known. The nature of the crimes gets people to convict them before going to trial. The nature of the crimes colors the investigation and affects the police and community at large.

No, they haven't. I'm more commenting on how people, especially in the news, seem surprised at the idea that a medic or firefighter could possibly do such things. Whether these particular ones have or haven't is beside the point.

Mine was a generic quote refering to the fact that EMS, like anywhere else, is not immune from the criminal, perverse, or deviant actions that a percentage of our community considers appropriate. The is, however, a quick reaction to point out the profession, where it is one of Public Service. This hurts the rest of us & we are all tarred with the same brush. Not all Priests are paedophiles, yes, a small number are, but the vast majority are good God fearing clerics that are repulsed by the actions of those few, just as I am repulsed by the acusations levelled at these men, 1 of whom was an EMT.
