Where's the edit button?

Okay, I read the FAQ but still can't find the edit button to edit one of my posts.

I'm logged on and the "Posting Rules" at the bottom of the page state that I can edit my own posts but I can't find the "Edit Button".

What am I missing

Okay.. this is odd.... the edit button appears on this message but not on the post I need to edit! What the heck. I tried logging off and back on but that didn't help

You have a limited time to edit a post. I think we set it at 10 minutes. That way someone can't go back a week later (or whatever) and change a post.

At least I'm not losing my mind.

I need to do a better job of proof reading my posts quicker

Chimp answered it right. We used to allow you to go back and edit your posts whenever, but then some people would get disgruntled and go back and edit their hundreds of posts to say something random. It ruined a lot of good threads, so we changed the editing limit to something like 10 minutes.
