Sorry I haven't been around but things've been pretty crazy . We had the 37,000 acre Piute fire come within a mile and a half of Lake Isabella , then thunderstorms over the fire area and flash floods . I was doing double duty with Red Cross and CERT in addition to work . We could see the flames from my best friend's house ( right down the street from fire camp ) . When the flash flood started , I was at Chris's house and there was a time when we wondered if we were going to have a problem there . Luckily , the water followed the normal streambed and his house was spared . If you go to kerncountyfiredept.org , they have some awesome video of helicopter rescues and still photos of the fire and floods . As usual , during all this , the rumor mill ran rampant and a lot of residents started getting panicky . ( I wish folks'd just shut up and listen to OFFICIAL info , it'd save a whole lotta grief ) As far as I know , no injuries , just some dramatic rescues including a family on a rooftop with a baby . Gotta go get ready for work . God Bless and stay safe .
