Ah. I see. I had a really bad headache at the time and wasn't interested in thinking. :wacko:
Our Base is in New York, NY; we provide service to the northern half of the United states; the other base for our sister company is in Atlanta, and they provide service to the South Eastern Parts of the US; and there is also a base is Los Angeles. The SEUS Base was supposed to take over for the LA base, since there are quite a few major transport companies in Calif; and they were losing more than gaining.
We have a crew of three; two transport specialists/NREMT-P's; and One Transport Specialist/NREMT-B. All certified to drive. There are seven hubs in the Northern Route.
Base: NYC
HUB1: Pittsburgh-In Use
HUB2: Chicago-In Use
HUB3: Des Moines-Closed
HUB4: Cheyenne-Closed
HUB5:Grand Junction-Closed
HUB6: Salt Lake City-Closed
HUB7: Seattle-In Use
Hubs8-12 have been closed a long time
The idea of the hub is that they are from 300-400 miles apart; they have alternate crews, fuel, food... bunk & shower rooms. Another crew familiar w/ the transport takes our patient on, and we take another rig back. Or we fly back, depends what the schedule is. Each hub also provides the same services to the area in which they are located. Problem is the company is "unstable", constantly closing hubs; canceling routes.
I have an interview next week to take a job w/ a regular EMS service that provides 911 service and transports; maybe even stop working w/ forestry.

[/b][/quote]They are tan here. With two large doors on each side that open to smaller compartments.
I meant the large door on the side, it looked like a refrigerator truck, much the a Schwans truck.
and the color scheme makes them look like ice cream trucks. Are they new? or aren't they in the USA?
B/c they do not comply w/ National DOT Standards- They have no Star of Life emblems.

None of the ambulances out here follow the KKK standard as far as markings. None of the FD ambulances I can think of have a SOL, and I don't think most of the privates do either. In fact, the only true KKK-compliant markings are white with "Omaha orange" trim (at least that's what it said the last time I read the KKK spec).

Why wouldn't they want SOL's? Last time I didn't see a modern ambulance w/ a SOL was like 20 years ago when the "Son's of the American Legion" ran the ambulance. They had red crosses on the doors and a legion symbol on either side; that was all. Didn't even say ambulance, I guess the red light and siren gave that away.
I guess if you don't have a star of life on the ambulance, you really don't have to comply with the Specifications of KKK-A-1822E, federal specification for the Star-of-Life ambulance.
As to where you can find the "KKK-A-1822E Federal DOT Specs".. Good question, I just know what we have to apply. When the do the relicensing in PA, they come and measure things.. As if it matters that out letters are 1/16th of an inch smaller than the book says.
Still looks like an ice cream truck.
