So I took the NREMT yesterday afternoon and left the testing center angry and depressed, hateful and ready to vomit. I came home and told my wife that I had failed and proceeded to spend the remainder of the day in a slump. I woke up several times in the night, refreshing my candidate app status page so that i could receive my official "you suck" message. Around 8 this a.m. I looked again and yippeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!! I passed. I ran around the house like a kid on christmas! Im soooo relieved to have completed the first step in what I hope will be a long career in EMS. So now what? I mailed in my paperwork to the state last week. Do I just wait now? Have I completed all of the steps to obtain my license? Also, on nremt.org, it says my exp. date is 3/2016 but my understanding was that you had to renew every 2 years and with my DOB being on an even year, I would have to recertify in 2014. Any insight?
Thanks all,

Thanks all,

Once you get your NREMT cert you may have to send it to the state. NREMT is done every 2 years. Depending on the month your initial cert will be good for a bit longer.

congrats and good luck

How long does it usually take to get your nremt-p card once you pass the written and practical?

A few days to weeks. It all depends on how long it takes for your info to make it to nremt and be verified . If you did your practical before the computer it shouldn't take too long.
