OK, another post I made got me thinking about the "old days" of the 90s.

1.) Gas was 70 cents/gallon (my mom has proof, we have a photo of my parents infront of a gas station)

2.) We did not know who George W. Bush was, nor did we care.

3.) you could have fun being a kid and not get labled as a no-good lazy bum.

4.) Cars were made better and cheaper then.

5.) I just miss my grade school friends in general.

6.) Coke tasted better then.

7.) Coke costed just 45 cents when I was in kindergarten. Now the same size can costs a dollar.

8.) Bill Clinton was president and our economy was growing, the world was at peace, and prices were reasonable, although the politician was not noble.

9.) They had cooler toys in the 90s (the REAL Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles)

10.) Real men could wear mullets and not get labeled as fruity. ;) :P

11.) I really enjoyed playing in the haybarn at my grandparents, and it was cool then to sit in the haybard and scare the piss out of the younger cousins.

12.) You could collect stuffed animals at 16 and not get labeled as a big baby (those beany babies)

13.) Internet was more fun then because it was so new.

14.) Playing the ORIGINAL Oregon Trail Game on the Apple Macs in the school computer lab.

15.) They had the best saturday morning cartoons then.

Add your own no matter what decade you were born in.

The REAL Furbies
The REAL Rainbow bright
cutting class and not missing much because the teachers were lazy bums
Study Hall.
The Roller Rink on Friday night before all the gang wars took over
staring at the sky watching the stars imagining what I would be when I was 23 and not worrying about working or starving now that I am 23.
climbing Trees and pushing the younger cousins out of them
Hanging out in my family's Barn
Life in General was so much easier
Playing hoky while faking sick and not worrying about a boss getting uptight when you really ARE sick
Back then a parent signed a note to take to school you were sick, now you have to pay 200 dollars for a Dr to do the same damn thing
Mama's chicken soup the cure all
Mama cooking and doing the dishes with da complaining and me laughing, and now I cook and do dishes with a man of my own complaining and the damn bird laughing at me.

More to come as I think about them

Have to disagree on the cartoon part.

The 80's....

Smurfs, Snorks, Care Bears, Rainbow Bright, Strawberry Shortcake, Transformers, He-Man, She-Rah, Skelator.
Madonna, Boy George, Micheal Jackson (all before they were wierd)
Turning in 10 pop bottles for the dime each and walking away with a bag full of candy
Leg Warmers
Blonde Bangs, brown hair
BIG hair
Parachute Pants
Atari
Commodore 64
We solved our fights on the playground, fists only, no guns
Dodge Ball against the Wall
Cabbage Patch Dolls
We had Christmas Parties, Easter Parties, and Thanksgiving Parties IN SCHOOL and nobody whined about it.
We said the Pledge of Allegience IN SCHOOL
We had a moment of Silence IN SCHOOL (oh the horror!!)
Prayer before sports games
My Daddy used to beat my butt and he didn't care who saw
Getting spanked, with a paddle, IN SCHOOL
We walked to school, almost 2 miles and there were no sidewalks. (Now we live 2 blocks from the school and he has to ride a bus because there are no sidewalks)
On THAT NOTE....SIDEWALKS.
Betsy Wetsy
EZ Bake Oven
Light Bright

Ya'll are making me feel old. :(

Heh, that brought back good memories...Waking up at 9 just to watch cartoons and eat tons of cereal...good times...

I don't remember the 90's..
They sucked.

80's all the way!

I have to agree with EMTPrincess - the 80's - what a time!!
Leg warmers....now that goes way, way back!!!! :P

The 80's were much better than the 90's.

You know what I miss? Dots. And I found a place that sells them the other day. I bought what was left in there, they looked at me funny, and I let them know they were the only place that sells them. So they're ordering me my own box :)

I'm on my 3rd sheet now :D

The Beastie Boys!!! ("You Gotta Fight!! For Your Right!! To PAAAAAARRRRTTTYY!!!)
The New Kids on the Block (I totally had their posters ALL OVER my walls!!)
George Michael
Different Strokes
Ricky Schroeder (he was soooo dreamy!!)

I was weird I guess, now I did love George Michael & WHAM, but I hated new kids on the block and beastie boys (my husband liked beastie boys but he's almost a decade behind me) And I watched Charles in charge but I didn't like the others.
I'm pretty picky.

You know what I miss terribly from the 90's though? Animaniacs. I wish they would start playing that again.

I LOVE Rescue 911 - I even bought a Rescue 911 Book with all the scenarios from season 3 when I was 8. And the theme sticks in my head. Thankfully Discovery Health is re-running it on their channel.

I wish I had not thrown that 911 book away looking back on it because it actually couldve helped in learning diff. scenarios and thinking of what I would do in each case.

Now youve got me heading over to ebay to see if I can find someone whos selling it.
