What do you pay for out of pocket to work in EMS

PA has no certification fees. Not sure if I'll need to pay for PALS/ACLS/ITLS recerts... I got a year or two to figure that out.

Volunteer squad pays for most con ed / conferences, as long as BLS con-ed is given (most stuff is registered for both ALS and BLS con-ed).
 
We have no state fees for maintaining our certification. If I opt to maintain my national registry, I have to pay for that out of pocket. All of the required classes (CPR, ACLS,PALS) are provided by my department, as is most of the required continuing ed. There are tons of free seminars put on by local hospitals that fill in what isn't provided by the department. I could get by without paying anything to maintain my cert, but doubt that will happen. There are classes that I am wanting to take, and most likely will end up paying out of pocket for them. Sometimes the department will pay, but they aren't paying for any extra classes right now due to budget constraints.
