Thank you for the warm welcome. I am a retired volunteer firefighter/First Responder with the Centerville, Indiana Fire/Rescue. I served for 32 years before being forced to retire due to severe emphysema and triple bypass surgery, along with six strokes. I'm still upright and taking nourishment, so things aren't all bad. Yeah, when I joined in 1977, they handed you some old turnout gear, a radio receiver, and said good luck. No mandatory initial training, no nothing. All by the seat of the pants until regular monthly training.

Had a blast with it, and wish I could have continued; however, everyone has his or her limits, and I had hit mine. I still go to the meetings and put my two cents' worth in, and help out wherever I can.
