volunteer opportunities??

Hello all! I live in Vancouver, WA just North of Portland, OR. About 18 months ago I completed my EMT-B training with the intentions of getting the desired credentials to get into paramedic school. I have since been working full time in a monday-friday job and am finally getting back on the EMS path. Anyone aware of the various EMS volunteer opportunities that exist? I am looking to spend some time volunteering so I can A)get some EMS experience B) beef up my paramedic school application C)get agency affiliation so I can gain state certification. I have talked with the local FD's, the problem is most of them don't start their volunteer process until next September. Thanks!
