United EMS Workers - AFSCME

I am wondering if any of you guys are in this union, and what you think of it. I've read post on what people think of union in general, seems people can agree that for employees, it can be a good or bad thing.

I work for a company that in my opinion is the best IFT company in the area, but the union approached us only a couple of weeks after we blew up.

My main concern is that we'll get a bad contract. So far the representatives haven't seemed to be very pleasant around me, and it turns me off. We have about a week to vote, I am thinking no right now, but before I do, I am gonna go to their meeting to see what's the deal, and I kinda want to hear it from you guys since I trust you guys a lot.

Each local can have a its own character.

AFSCME is big but if you are in certain classes their size won't matter because of no-sympathy-strike laws. Check on it.
We had our LVN's and some other techs under AFSCME and their ;local didn't do diddly. But we were civil service, so striking was pretty much a joke,
