(This post, the first post, and all images will be updated as the storm progresses. Images will update automatically.)

Tuesday afternoon update: Let's just put it this way: No one is really sure what this storm will do, how strong it will be, which path it will take, and what damage will be done. Tropical cyclones usually only really affects the coastal states, but the paths forecasted for this storm pretty much effect the entire east coast.

More today as I learn it.

If I were Ray Nagin I might start thinking about getting people out of town...oh wait, what am I thinking...Ray Nagin doesn't look at these things as threats...

Anyone see the movie "Oil Storm" on FX last Summer?

say it with me people...

UPPER LEVEL SHEAR! UPPER LEVEL SHEAR!! UPPER LEVEL SHEAR!!

and I am going to continue with my upper level shear chant until it enters the gulf.....

Then I will book my dogs stay at the shelter and get ready for some DOUBLE TIME AND A HALF OVERTIME!!

Man I need a new car....and a little hurricane would make for a nice down payment:P

NOT AGAIN.

I just found out at work that they are looking for volunteers to assist on "disaster response teams" because they have a contract to provide "surge" ambulances to Louisana for FEMA.... I 'm dropping my aplication off this afternoon... Company Vacation Plan - here I come!

Hey! Hook a brotha up! I'll go! :D I think I have some vacation days from the day job anyway...

Name updated to Hurricane Ernesto and info updated in the first post of the thread.

Now it looks like its time to board up the entire south end of Florida...I bet Home Depot and Lowe's make a killing today on plywood and drywal screws...of course there is also the chance that this thing changes its path yet again...times like this I am glad the nearest ocean is 225 miles away!

Yeah, I will be looking through the ads this morning and finding out the best deals on water and such. Heck, I may even go out before everyone wakes up and turns on the TV.

Chimp,

Be safe, and please update us when you can. I always like following your weather threads.

Take care and be safe!

Be safe Chimpie. You guys go ahead and take this one for us. Then we can be done for the year and all will be well.

Thanks Chimp. Really appreciate you taking one for the team.

:)

Is your service preparing for this storm at all? Will this mean mandatory overtime?

I received a phone call last night, an automated message that they can send through our scheduling service, that basically said until it is determined where the storm will be making landfall all requests for leave are being terminated.

So in a nutshell, all those guys who think they are going on vacation in the next week or so, are now in limbo until this storm decides to where it is going.

I am still waiting for it to enter the Gulf. Then I will get my dogs time at the shelter booked.

Bump for yet another pretty big change in wind speeds and direction.

Holy Cow!

Saturday might be rough
