A couple of weeks ago I posted about being nervous on calls and having poor time managment.

Ok. i`ve been on 30-40 calls and i`ve done a complete 180. I feel very comforable on scene now, i`m delgating a lot and I am having a blast. I`m comming to the end of my clincal training. My FTO who has been great is now just giving me pointers or the (this is how I do it) talk. The only thing I need more practice on is my Patches to the hospital and pronouncing big medical words to doctors haha.

My patches are about 4-6 on a 1-10. When its a normal run of the mill call there fine but the more complex calls I ethier give to much info and its all over the place.. Or not enough. My FTO is always correcting me on them which is fine I want to be good at it.

Now that I will be going on my own (I will still be riding with senior guys. Just not as a 3rd rider) How do I keep improving? Is there any good books out there to keep my A and P fresh, cardio books? Is my medic books still worth rereading? Is it to eraly to start reading critical care books? I just want to be that guy who everyone respects as a medic.. I know google is a click away but just would like some advice. I dont want to be these burnouts that i see who could careless what they learn..

I know where your coming from. I just completed FTO a couple of weeks ago and I was extremely nervous. Now that I have been on my own and successfully managed some pretty sick patients that should have gone ALS I am getting more and more confident.

about a week and a half ago I gave an epi-pen for anaphalaxis. As a basic we don't normally give injections so having to give an epi-pen is a big deal for us. Having doctors and nurses give me positive feed back - and seeing how the patient got relief after the injection - boosted my confidence.

EMS is a learning experience and the more I learn the more confidence I gain. That translates to me being a better provider.
