I'm an emt-b and have been for a year, going to college for paramedicine. I'm supposed to be sending in my application to the program next week. Problem is that I don't see myself getting accepted, and here's why. I'm 19, and have only logged 157 calls.

I've done all that the program requires for admission, scored above the 80th percentile on the TEAS V, rode on an ALS rig right out of EMT school, followed the four year program that my college outlined for gen eds and training. I have the letters of rec. and an internship (EMT) for the spring. Not to mention the almost four years prior that I spent doing ride alongs.

From your experience do people my age get accepted/considered for paramedic programs? I'm trying to give myself a pep talk so that I can hand in my packet and feel like I actually stand a chance.

Apply and make them tell you no. I see nothing wrong with your resume or age. You'd have no problem getting into our program

Are you applying to Paramedic school or Medical school? Almost nobody in my Paramedic class would have met those requirements, and I went through a well established community college program with a good reputation.

For some Paramedic schools I think the only requirement is that you have an EMT license.
