In the spirit of the 100% directionless thread, this is intended as a place to vent about your day, share a funny dynamic, etc.

I'll start: Travel plans delayed, recreational OT. $300 OT bonus stipend + OT pay, posting at my apartment complex's ultra-hoity 'clubhouse' on fancy leather couches for eight hours, then an extra 1.5 hours for a late call and a Commute From Hell back to the station? I'm entirely OK with that- $600 day pre-tax.

On the minus side, my partner of the day is a little burned out. Not anywhere near as awesome as my normal partner. He even gave me the Look when I gave fentanyl for a UTI and repeated it- "most of the people here only knock the edge off." Kinda scary when you think about it- I've been medicating the piss out of pain for a few months now.

Is it a bad thing to be relieving pain in this field?

Just finished my 2 week tour in the oil fields. Was booked on a redeye flight home. Flight was cancelled and the new one they booked me was for the 28th at noon. I called and was able to get my flight switched to today at noon. This will put me landing at 11 pm and an hour + drive home . My wife was going to surprise me that she had gotten the day off work. I was originally supposed to land at 10 am. Needles to say she is pissed and one of my days off is wasted because of this. Last time I flew home they lost my luggage. I love my job but I hate having to fly to get there and home. At least I am not be one paying for it .

On the bright side I just finished breakfast. Bacon eggs toast hashbrowns and 2 beers. The waitress laughed and told me that was a common order here ( airport restaurant)

I am definitely feeling better now.

Spent the last few days at a waterpark in Wisconsin Dells with my family.
While there, I was sitting in the lobby waiting for the wife and kids to finish in the arcade....a guy sits down next to me.
He was wearing a Chicago Cubs cap, a Chicago Bears t-shirt, Chicago Bulls sweat pants/warm up pants, and a Chicago Blachawks jacket.

I turned to him and asked, "So....where you from?"

"Chronic diarrhea x3 months" and "It's too cold outside" are neck and neck for winners tonight...

19 more hours of online FEMA classes to complete before Wednesday.

Shoot. Me. Now.

And I have a paper due Monday.

I posted this on facebook yesterday:

Daniel and Christina are playing legos. He built a fire truck, she built a police car. They went on a call, and he decided to shut the pretend road down so he could attack the pretend fire. Next thing I knew, they were bickering, and Tina ran in to tattle to me.

"Mama, the fire department can't shut down the road, can they??? That's only for the POLICE!!!"

And so the world turns. Some things never change.

Last day at work, a crazy thing happened: every single patient needed an ambulance. Angulated ankle fracture, sick COPD, pneumonia with altered mental status.

Odd.

Last 2 days no one really sick. Pretty easy calls, only ran a few both days. And still got off late both mornings.

This mornings late call I got to dump on day shift to complete. Train wreck of a patient on a vent and 4 meds going. That was wonderfully enjoyable.

Now to nap, drink beer and go fishing.

Waiting impatiently for the budget to pass, been on the phone all morning calming down the other wives in the FRG call tree... People cryin, scared, totally understandable I guess.

Our family and the others families on Title 32 orders stand to lose $1000/month in pay.. We'd *almost* be eligible for welfare and food assistance.

Oh shoot..

At home all day with a sick mini-me. My little pony in two languages all day and nursing duty.

Worked overnight with a good partner, had a couple of lift assist calls and after that a baker act suicidal male that was hallucinating. That was crazy, at least he was not violent. After that shift went smooth and got out at 0730. Going back at 1600 should be a goot night.
