Even if you don't agree with everything I have to say, you are still helping bring Safety for EMS providers to the forefront.
Every time you reply or post a new thread you start people thinking. As a police officer I hear people say " I just knew something was wrong" just before they became a victim to a crime. The problem was they were unable to recognize the threat because of a lack of perception skills because they had not trained to "recognize" or "react" to a particular situation.
Simple discussions can help prevent bad things from happening be it criminal or medical.
I get pissed when someone lays a hand on an EMS provider, and so should you.. EMT's , Medics, Nurses and Dr.'s come to the aid of people in need and get crappy treatment from dopers, drunks and people that feel they are owed something by everyone else. Not to take away from the higher percentage of calls that can be rewarding, but all it takes is once to be changed for life.
The kicker is the ever empathetic creatures that we are, we forgive them. I am all for forgiveness when people admit their wrong doing and attempt to change for the better, but when they use their drug induced state to justify their aggressive, assaultive behavior on those charged with their well being and refuse to assume responsibility.........
Anyway, my point is .........keep it up. Talking about things will help save someone's behind. Patient or provider. The people that are here,on this site have an open mind. That is why I am here and why others come too!!
