Howdy everyone!

Just wanted to share my situation with y'all and get any advice possible on going about finding some work. I recently just got certified as a Paramedic and am waiting on my paperwork from Texas-DSHS before I start sending out applications. After EMT-B school I went straight into Paramedic school so I don't have any EMT work experience to put on my resume which worries me the most. Seems like every application I look at they want at least 1 year of experience in EMS. Before I decided to get into EMS I was a college student at Baylor University in Waco but the reason I left without graduating is b/c I felt like I wanted to do more with my life and not end up with a job in an office if you get my drift. I have around 80 college hours but as my time in school went on I lost interest and my GPA suffered because of it. Should I put on my resume my college experience even though my GPA is bad?? My only other work experience is working at my fathers wood manufacturing co which obviously has nothing to do with EMS, although I feel I learned valuable work ethic/responsibilities there. It was very hard and laborious work but I learned a lot about working in a fast paced environment with a lot of attention to safety etc. I just want to get my foot in the door somewhere and prove to the company I am a hard, honest worker that deserves a chance. I'm also an Eagle Scout and I know it might sound cliche but I learned a lot about myself and responsibilities in my time as a Boy Scout, especially when it comes to integrity and putting your all into something. I'm 25 years old now and desperately want to get my career started I'm just worried my resume isn't glamorous enough to be considered for the jobs I have already looked at and was wondering if anyone had a similar situation to mine that could shed some light. Sorry for the ramble but to anyone that reads this thank you so much for your time and insight, I truly appreciate any advice. God Bless y'all!!

There are brightly colored companies in the metroplex that will hire you....

Be honest on any application. It's rather dismaying (and potentially damaging to your employment) to find out an applicant lied.

EMSA in Oklahoma will hire you, with no experience, and does have a $10,000 signing bonus/relocation allowance.

It's not perfect, but it's a job.

Also, Rose State College here will give you 31 credits for your paramedic certification. You could probably finish an associate's degree within a single semester.

You'd probably make somewhere in the mid-30s as a starting medic, not horrible.

I'll PM you with specific info, but I work for one of the major 911 services in the DFW and we are hiring like crazy.

Edit: Most places will hire you as a secondary paramedic and you will work with another medic till you're ready to be on your own.
