I usually take pictures at trainings, or on fire scenes. As long as there are no patients, or I am not neglecting anything else I am supposed to be doing it has been ok to do so.
I had thought I would get picks of MVCs to show damage at the ER, but I am usually too busy so it doesn't get done. We have also recently gotten into the habit of photographing license plates/VIN numbers on cars we hook for the tow truck on dive runs. Those pictures get printed and attached to the run report for billing purposes.
I never, ever take pictures of patients, family members, etc.
