Ian, one of final three in Survivor, is an EMT.

Unfortunately, as I was posting this, he took the fall and basically asked to be voted out. And so, he's off now, it's sad to see him lose.

Anyway, he attended Penn State at the same time as my brother, and they both took the EMT course together.

In fact, my brother and Ian were partners for the practicals.

Josh says that Ian is a great guy, and it's really unfortunate that he got voted off, but evidently it is what he wanted...

Just thought I'd share this, I thought it was pretty cool...

A FDNY FF won... I haven't been watching the show, but woohoo FDNY! :)

I thought survivor was over. How many shows have they had?

This was the 10th season, according to the web site. The 11th will be in Guatemala.

Side??? <_<

What are the odds that I worked in a Borough for 14 years...and MET NOBODY?!?!?!?

I gots plenty of friends...Some in the Rescue Comapnies (my wifes uncle retired from R3)...some in the Squad Companies...couple in Engine and Truck Companies...and still quite a few friends on the 'EMS side'. :P

I count 17 friends that have either answered their last alarm or are still responding on 9/11...One was a Paramedic Lieutenant (Promoted Posthumosly) and the other was a Paramedic...the remainder were men I went to school with or trained with or met while vollying on the island...it is a rather close community there...whether we like each other or not.

OIC...not to worry...It was NOT me! :o

I get a little uppity when people remind me there are still 'sides'.

If that still needs to be true, then put EMS back in green under its own banner...know what I mean?

Yep.... I forget the FDNY used to be just fire, and some folks aren't great at the whole - "we need to love each other and be 1 big happy family" thing...

Isn't is FD v.s. PD now?

Fighting in the skies of New York in black hawk helicopters?

Do not forget over the water too  ...there really is no need for the rivalry...The Office of the Mayor simply perpetuates it...and Bloomberg is a MORON, who has no idea what emergency services (Not NYPD ESU...all of them) should be doing.

Ok.. I understand the basics of ESU - the whole "Super-SWAT" thing, but what of all this "playing rescue" stuff I see in pictures and TV? Isn't that what the 6 rescues are for? and the Hurst on the ladders?

5 Rescues...R6 is out of business late last year. R6 was a temporary Unit for the RNC.

Like I said earlier about politics and ESS. Those guys are great with the tool and car extrication and other aspects of Tech Rescue...no doubt. But really they should be doing SWAT stuff, that is their primary mission.

Let Fire do fire (including Rescue), Police do cops and robbers stuff (including SWAT) and let EMS do everything else. ;)
