How much information do the examiners require you to go into on this station with regards to the non-ACLS interventions? Is saying you would establish an IV and place the patient on oxygen sufficient, or perform CPR, or do you need to state that you would establish a large bore IV proximally, place the patient on 15L oxygen via NRB, and CPR is to be performed at a ratio of 30 compressions to 2 ventilations until ETT established... etc.

I started every one of mine with BSI, scene safe, O2, IV, Monitor. You may run into trouble time wise if you get too detailed on that kind of stuff. your scenario gives background and vitals along with the strip. They don't want a full assessment. They want you to identify the rhythm and treat it or not treat it depending on the situation. If the pt codes you say cpr per AHA guidelines with epi q 3-5min etc. defib as required if vfib/vtach.

Thanks! So they don't expect specifics as far as CPR technique or how much oxygen you would put them on/delivery device then?

I passed with saying what I did. they are looking more at the recognition and treatment. Look at the skills sheet. All the points are in the correct identification and treatment of the strip/pt.

you can say nrb 15l/min, or 18g iv ns @ tkvo if you want to. You have 6 min to do 4 of them so whatever you are comfortable with that allows you to be done on time.
