I start training to become an EMT-B this January. Any tips for me?

Out of curiosity, which program?

The tips I'd give to folks:

1. Read the assigned chapter prior to coming to class.

2. Complete the workbook for the assigned chapter prior to coming to class.

3. Ask questions in class.

4. If there is an online component, make a schedule for yourself where you complete it on certain nights as if you're going to class.

5. Approach this class like a college level course, you're responsible for your own success. Your instructors are there to guide you.

The EMT-Basic course through Brunswick Community College. Thank you for your response though!

If you're taking the class starting January 7th, I look forward to seeing you in class :)

Make a mental note. You probably should not ask for homework answers here, or complain about your instructor.

Consider your self very lucky to have him as an instructor.

Just remember, your instructor knows next to nothing about electrocardiography. Be sure to teach him a thing or two ;)

Actually I do not care how or where my students solicit help. Work on anything you want in groups of any sizes and abilities. They're not available for you on test days or during technical scope of practice exams, so it will be obvious if you lack mastery of the concepts.

Some folks have learning styles that do not conform to the individualist rules of most educational systems, so I do not try to force it.

I've learned that the more I dive into that topic, the less I actually know. I encourage anybody and everybody to teach me more on it! Challenging the status quo is also a great way to learn, I seem to learn best thru being completely wrong on a test question.
