Yeah, I'm sure there a thousand threads like this. Still, I assumed you guys and gals would be nice and friendly and offer any advice. I have worked IFTs as a basic for 7-8 months or so. The program I'm attending is real good from everything I gather. They have an impressive array of sim-men, labs, a mock ambulance set up, mock scenes; a cadaver lab towards the end of class and a field rescue day. It's about a year long.

I'm looking forward to class, but it's a big jump. I haven't really run many actual 911 calls; we run some calls at my transport company that are kind of emergencies - nursing home ER calls, but no trauma or anything. I tried to hop some ride-outs as a volunteer, but I had a hard time even finding that.

Any advice besides study real hard? ;)

Study really Hard, Study with classmates. Always important to de-stress once in a while, i say at least after every exam, go out drinking/eating/or other fun activities. eat healthy, exercise, drink lots of water.

on a side note, i think you should change your name to "thinkCAB" i hope that you know why.

Yeah, that makes more sense to me too. You're gonna check for a pulse before you assess breathing, right?

I try to do lots of those other things. I go jogging mostly, only I've been bad lately.

Good luck in your new program!

good luck. I took my 2nd quarter final today and ACLS Monday and Tues. Its tough but well worth it.

My last day of class is in 2 weeks. Everyone tells you how hard it is but you probably don't believe them. YOU WILL! But it is worth it! There will be a light at the end of the long tunnel. It will seem like it's all mush in your brain when you get started. The mush will eventually form into a gourmet meal. It all makes since by the time ride time starts! Good luck & keep the faith in yourself! Don't stress yourself out. It all gets presented in easy to follow stages. The building blocks get stacked up in an orderly fashion that is user friendly! Then you get to inflict healthcare on the general public!
