Its funny to me that I basically live across the road from this...

and yet we contend with bears!! I still chuckle about driving down the highway and having to come to a complete stopf for what at first glance looked the the funniest looking dog I have ever seen. Until that is he turned and looked at us.

So anyway....this is bound to have the tree hugging PETA groups all in a tizzy before its over...

Prowler call leads to Tasering of bear
Louis Cooper
@PensacolaNewsJournal.com

A bear that tried to enter a home south of Milton on Tuesday night got an unexpected shock -- literally.

Deputies called to the home shot the animal with a Taser when it began acting in an aggressive manner. The bear fell to the ground, breaking the connection with the weapon which administers a strong electrical charge. The animal then fled into nearby woods.......

"He started wandering up to me," he said. "He was about seven or eight feet away when I shocked him."

The bear might have been drawn initially to Smith's trash pit, which she was working to eliminate Wednesday afternoon.

"It's very strange and very scary," she said. "He acted like people had been feeding him. He didn't act like he was afraid of people. He didn't run.".....

Florida Wildlife Commission biologist Pat Bowman visited Smith on Wednesday. If the bear comes back or makes trouble for neighbors, she said the commission likely will capture and relocate the animal.

"Between the Taser shock and the garbage removal, I would like to think this bear is going to stay away," Bowman said. "The next 24 hours is going to tell how things go."

Black bears are protected by state law.

This came from here....

What's supposed to be in the photo?

I don't see anything?

Really...you don't see anything??? Its the beach and the Gulf.

Really...You don't see it??

Does anybody else not see it???

I see the gulf, and if i look really hard I can see Texas too...but I didnt see any black bears...

Ive nearly gotten my *** mauled by black bear - not a fun feeling at all.

I was walking my dog on Mt. Magazine near the Logan/Yell County line and we walked around the corner about 500 ft from an occupied campsite and BAM I was less than 30 yds from a large black bear. I was sitting there telling my dog to steady, and I was standing as still as possible with sweat literally rolling off me. Thankfully the bear just kinda stuck her nose out at us but never approached us and walked back into the bush. Once the bear dissappeared we turned and walked back to the ranger station to report it, and last I heard they they found it and had it moved to another area of the park where it was then fitted with a GPS device to track its movement.

Scary!
