We were both taking exams - she was taking her CC, I was taking my basic. She basically told me I have no chance of getting a job with no experience, that I should just volunteer for a year at a volley. I tried to tell her I heard otherwise (via this forum), but she kept shutting me down. The good news is, I passed my State exam!

Apply to every paid service near where you live. Also volunteer in the .

Hope for the best but expect the worst.

Bet I know her, you must have been at onsite at LaGuardia. Congrats on passing exam.
 
Congrats on passing, apply everywhere you would be willing to work and don't be discouraged if you don't hear from them at first. It took up to 6 months for a few places to get back to me for an interview.
 
Thanks guys! I didn't find the state very hard, but I know my problems is mainly respiratory. I'll be reading up on that. The studying doesn't end, as I know alot of the privates have pre-screening tests.
 
Congratulations on passing! As far as the EMT-CC, are there places that hire them for paid ALS? When I left North Shore LIJ a few years ago, EMT-CC's on the island were only doing ALS for VFD's and for NCPD. I know that in the five boroughs a EMT-CC is only a basic.

I rode with quite a few CC's who were full time for FD's in Suffolk while taking my CC course. Not a bad way to make a living if you can get one of those jobs.

I just applied to Transcare, SeniorCare, Hunter Ambulance, North Shore LIJ, and St Lukes Roosevelt.

My only worry is that other than the 12-hr shift I did in the course, I really don't have much experience and I desperately need a job.

I'm going to apply to Forest Hills volunteer corp too and plan on working both, but I really, really need a job.
