I am a NY EMT-B. In New York, NR means almost nothing. I don't know if it is worth it for me to become an NREMT, especially if I have no plans on moving anywhere? Any thoughts? Has anyone else faced the same dilemma? Thanks!

I am curious of the procedure to be an NREMT-B from an NY EMT-B. Your personal life can change and you may have to move. If it is a simple process I would strongly encourage it!

I assume I would have to apply, and take the cognitive and Psychomotor Exams...finding one near me may be difficult because NY doesn't use NREMT, but I guess I dont understand why my life would change or I would have to move.

in my opinion i always thinks its a good idea to take the NREMT because its not that complicated and once you have it, its pretty easy to keep.

I ask the question because its not free, I think its like 70$ to test...and I am not going to spend that if I don't get any real benefit from it.

then you should just wait, if you think your going to end up moving or getting job in another state then you should get it then.

If you have no plans on moving and jsut staying right where you are I wouldnt mess with it. Every state has different requirements, WA just moved to using NREMT as the testing service only - they still do the certification state level though just a requirement to test with them. Everywhere is different though.
