Summary
The person in this position provides security functions. Monitors and controls personnel access to the building after normal working hours, on weekends, and holidays. Makes periodic inspection of buildings and grounds to check for potential problems/hazards
Duties
• Controls access to the buildings by visually verifying that only those personnel wearing security badges are permitted access beyond the building reception area • Observes departing personnel to guard against theft of company property • Ensures that visitors, vendors, and contractor personnel are logged-in and are provided escorts and badges • Maintains daily duty log and processes other reports as necessary • Monitors alarm console, CCTV, and video • Checks parking lot for unauthorized vehicles and trespassers • Instructs and trains new officers on post duties • Reports security/safety violations and any discrepancies in procedure to the site supervisor • Monitors fire control system and takes appropriate action as required • Personnel security: background investigation program of vendors and security clearances • Procedural security: handling sensitive material, transfer of sensitive material, addressing violations • Technical security: alarms, electronic countermeasures and intrusion detection systems • Investigating all suspected criminal violations and incidents • Enforce crisis management plan to address potentially violent events
Training AND/OR Experience:
1-2 years as a Security Officer
2 years as an EMT preferred
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Security and camera monitoring experience
Basic computer skills to access and retrieve information and write reports
Interpersonal skills
Communication skills, both verbal and written
Possess the ability to adapt to technical and environmental changes
Knowledge of switchboard functions and ability to provide phone relief to receptionist
Must be able to use discretion and judgment when required
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent
Must have Nevada approved EMT certification
